Myles Jack's knee condition....

so dallas trades back to Tenn, gets a few 2nd rounders back (and#15, of course)...they take Jack in rd 1, and then use their 3rd on Jaylon Smith...the 3-2nd rounders can go for DL and RB

If the defect is osteochondritis, then it's the same condition that Ron Leary has. Will be interesting to see how teams view and handle it if this indeed is true.

At pick 34, maybe.

I'd rather take a shot at Jaylon Smith later on. Vastly more sound fundamental player if healthy.

we do not have the luxury of redshirting players...we have immediate needs now. we need to stay clear of Jack or Smith.

I wonder what the fan reaction would be if we did take Jack at 34 and Smith at 67.

Before you answer, Jerry looked at all x-rays.

Smith's going to go undrafted. Or he should.

Jack's a tough one. I'd probably take a chance on him at #34. Definitely not in the top 10 unless I had more info on the knee than is being made available right now. I can't see how anyone could take him and feel good about it with other good players still on the board.

It's a shame for both these guys. They're great players. You gotta feel for Smith, especially, going healthy for 39 games or whatever it was and then getting hurt in the last game of his career to put his pro career in doubt.

Depends on the size and location of the defect and what the margins look like. Is it going to shear under stress? How much weight bearing does it do? How thick is the cartilage over bone? Is the defect thru and thru with exposed bone? What does the cartilage look like elsewhere? How much inflammation is there? Associated bursitis? What is the strength of the muscles surrounding and compared to the other side? Is the knee stable? Are there any symptoms or signs outside of the endoscopy and studies?

And this is the absolute worst way to approach the draft.

This is fan thinking. Not team building.

I couldn't agree with you more...this thinking is from a fan perspective....and so is the majority of everyone else here...we simply can't afford to take players in the early rounds that are injured, who might not ever play again (Smith) we need to hit on at least the first 3 picks as possible starters this season. this team building craze you are talking about went out long ago with free agency...you try and keep your core players, and the rest are interchangeable. just look at each teams turnover ratio from year to year.

RS, i value your opinion, but no one here can guess what this front office is going to do. we all have are wants.

I doubt he'll go undrafted.

Some team like Denver or Carolina or Pittsburgh will grab him if he falls into the 5th round and take the chance on him.

With nerve damage that may never heal. That's a sucker's bet.

Yeah because we really seem to nail our 4th and 5th and 6th round picks so much that we shouldn't take a late flier in a guy whose ceiling is off the charts.

LOL. The value people put on late round picks is hilarious.

I would be fine with that.
Overreacted with Smith. Smith no sooner than 5th round for me.
