The NFL combine is often the start of players being prodded by NFL scouts like pieces of meat. The process continues with individual workouts and pro days with the players before the NFL draft.
Galloway Township's Myron Rolle had a pro day on Wednesday with a league representative and a scout from the New York Giants at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Florida, where he trains daily.
Rolle improved on his numbers from the NFL combine in February.
He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.54 seconds at Wednesday's pro day, which greatly improved from the combine where he ran 4.73 and 4.68. He also recorded a 6.47 in the three-cone drill.
"It's good to get the results out there," his brother McKinley Rolle, 25, said Saturday morning. "He did incredibly better. The scout that was there said that's the best time he recorded all year in the three-cone."
Rolle graduated from The Hun School in Princeton and attended Florida State. He left school a year early to go to Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship. Rolle received criticism from taking a year off from football, but his goal since coming back has been to prove he wants to play.
His time away has caused analysts to drop in the draft, but his commitment at the Senior Bowl, combine and pro day have caused others to think differently.
What does that mean?
As McKinley notes, there is no way of knowing.
"We don't pay attention to the analysts," McKinley said. "From speaking to guys in the league like Samari (Rolle) and Antrelle (Rolle), there were interested teams who they never spoke to. I think NFL teams don't want to show their hand, so no one really knows what's going on."
There aren't more scheduled pro days for Rolle. For now, it's just waiting for the April 22-24 draft. Rolle will spend part of the draft in Florida and then have a party for friends and family in Galloway the weekend of the draft.
Here's video of Rolle working out at the Pro Day on Wednesday.
