Marc Colombo gets a rush from performing, but the best part of being in a rock band is that it allows him to show off his creative side.

The Dallas Cowboys right tackle is the lyricist and lead singer for Free Reign, the hard rock band that also features right guard Leonard Davis (bass) and backup offensive lineman Cory Procter (drums).

Free Reign will take the OVERTIME stage Friday night when the Rampage host the Texas Stars at the AT&T Center. Fans can get autographs from band members along the main concourse before the puck drops at 7 p.m.

"My favorite thing is creating our own music," Colombo said in a phone interview. "When you create your own music and are able to show people what you do, that's where I get a rush. I like to write a song, practice, rehearse it and then perform and see what the reaction is from the audience."

Colombo enjoyed discussing the creative process of writing a song.

"I was writing lyrics even before I picked up a guitar," he said. "I know it's weird, but they kind of just come to me. There will be weeks where I don't write, but then certain things happen to me and I try to write about them. Once it comes, it flows. It's kind of cool. I'll be sitting watching TV and a song will come to me. Before I know it, it's on a CD. That whole process is cool."

Maybe he could write a C/W song about Ray Edwards eating his lunch and nearly killing his QB.

Not even an hour into the thread. Nice.

We have a poet playing right tackle.

Fortunately, he's a heavy metal poet.

At least he took his whipping.

The other Tackle saw it coming and bowed out with a 'strained calf'.

Marc Colombo had a horrible game.

Tell me the other times he had a horrible game like that?

I didn't know there was an acceptable time to wait. I just haven't been sold on Columbo for a couple of years now, but we haven't had anyone better to replace him with unless that turns out to be Free.

It's not his fault but I think Free should have started at RT in that game. It would have been moot anyway since Adams went down though.

I didn't say that was his normal level of play. His attitude and willingness to be the team enforcer are his best qualities now. He's a good run blocker, but I'm not overly impressed with his pass blocking when being blitzed.

Leon says something funny and you respond thus? What a humorless hardass you must be.
