DALLAS - Tony Romo has worked hard this season to cut down on his impulse throws and to improve his ball security.

Yet there he was at the end of the first half, risking a sack that would have left the Cowboys without any points to hang onto the ball in an attempt to give a receiver time to get open in the end zone.

The gamble paid off in the form of a 5-yard TD pass to Patrick Crayton, giving Dallas a 17-7 lead at halftime.

The play was one of Romo's best. Before making the throw he ducked away from one defender and then pulled out of the grasp of another before finding Crayton with six seconds left.

"When I broke the first one, the first thing that goes through your head is that you have to get the ball out, throw it away," Romo said. "But instinctively I thought it was a very high-percentage chance to wait a second."

The play capped a nearly flawless second quarter for Romo. He completed 13 of 15 passes for 185 yards in the quarter, with one incompletion a drop by Roy Williams.

For the game, he hit 21 of 29 for 311 yards and three TDs without an interception. He also ran six times for 31 yards. His passer rating of 141.6 was the third best of his career.

The Cowboys are now 16-3 when Romo throws for 300 yards. It was his second-straight 300-yard game - the third time in his career he has had back-to-back 300-yard games. It was his third 300-yard performance of the season, tying for the third-most 300-yard games in a season in club history. Romo holds the club record of 300-yard games in a season - seven in 2007.

Oh my god. Swashbuckler?

I heard that once used to describe a bowler as the guy was making his approach on the lane. I simply turned the TV off and walked away.

"Swashbuckler or swasher is a term that developed in the 16th century[1] to describe rough, noisy and boastful swordsmen. The word "swashbuckler", in the modern sense, generally describes a fearless romantic archetype, a fictional, adventurous, sword-wielding, male character who seeks to win the heart of a beautiful lady while rescuing society from the clutches of a dastardly villain."

Yes, which is exactly why calling a bowler a swashbuckler is ridiculous and calling a QB one isn't far behind.
