When Bradie James heard that Wade Phillips had vowed to get tough in 2009, the linebacker broke out in laughter.

But that was back in January. These days James is singing a much different tune.

In an interview today with "Hardcore Sports Radio" in Toronto, James made it sound like Phillips was the second coming of Vince Lombardi last year when camp was in Oxnard, Calif.

"You know, the thing about Wade is, he takes care of us, but he catches some flack from the media because the media wants us to go out there and have a damn scrimmage every day. You know what I mean?" James said. "And we can't do that. This is the National Football League. But Wade's a little tough too, man. Last year, I think might have been one of my toughest training camps because Wade - there's no off days. You're always doing something. Either you're in meetings, you never have time for yourself and I guess that's what training camp's about.

"But we like to go out there and I'd rather, you know, put on some pads, knock some people out and have a night off. That would be great. But we just have to follow suit with what Wade does."

You can thank the Dallas media for that. They were out to get Wade for something, and that was the ammo they needed.

*Shrugs* I can't really say, and to my knowledge I never really have, how tough their TC are because I've never seen a single day of one, much less participated in one to actually know if they're tough or not.

oh the poor baby bradie james, he thinks training camp was tough last year, running around in shorts the first 25 days with no hitting, OH PLEASE!

wished you could teleport bradie james back in time, and have him work out just one day underneath Coach Jimmy Johnson in training camp back in the 90's

I remember Kevin Burnett saying similar things last year. Said it might have been the toughest camp he'd been through because even though there was less hitting than Parcells had, there were way more meetings and mental work.

And that proved to be a big waste of time.

Not sure that's the case on defense. There was a good bit more complexity to the defense, moreso that we've probably ever seen from a Cowboys defense. And it paid off in terms of being less predictable and getting to the QB.

Agreed. IMO - the majority the huge mistakes handed to the opposition were of the mental variety.

I guess thats why Stewart had to go, he mentally exhausted his defense. :D
