Hurd does not have the burst his hands may be great in practice and get the beat writers all excited but like crayton he drops a lot of key passes. Oh and that tip in buffalo was a missed catch not an intentional tip to curtis

I think the deciding factor is Hurds ST ability on kick off and punt coverage teams.

If the choice is between Hurd or Stanback.....Hurd will win out because he's the better player.

Stanback's not even close to Hurd at this point. He's got a good prospect, but he's got a long way to go. Hurd's ready to contribute and would be pushing for a a number two job on some teams.
I disagree obviously. In terms of speed and athleticism Stanback is infinitely better at this point. There's nothing "reliable" about Hurd at all. You can put him out at receiver but you can only rely on him not making an impact. If we draft or pick up a FA next year Hurd won't even be on this team. He's simply not an NFL caliber receiver. The guy was losing the #3 spot not competing for the #2 spot.

I definetely don't agree with that.

He has shown flashes in his limited opportunities in the 2 seasons he has had.

He made this roster as a 20 year old under Parcells.

He'll be an NFL receiver for a long time. Even if he potentially doesn't make our roster one day he'll be on an NFL roster for years.

I have to disagree with you on this one.

I think Hurd is an NFL caliber receiver, albeit not a very talented one. He's a bottom roster guy IMO, probably not amounting to anything higher than a #3 guy on a bad team. I agree that his roster spot here is likely gone if we pick up another FA or draft a WR next year.

I think the same is true for Stanback. Despite his obvious speed an athleticism, he doesn't look like a WR to me. His routes suck. They look choppy and unnatural. He seems to be somewhat inconsistent with his hands....some days the reports are fantastic, and others are downright poor. His inability to even judge the flight of the ball in the eagles game bodes poorly for his ability to return kicks and contribute on special teams. He's had two good returns. He's also had one fumble, and one misjudgment that put us on the four yard line.

I don't see anything from Stanback on the field that suggests that he's as good as his hype suggests. Whether or not he continues to be active will speak volumes IMO.

I smell a proverbial rat. I think the team has a vested interest in Stanback's progression. Another setback makes it very difficult to justify a third round selection for a player with what 5 career catches? The Cowboys may roll the dice on Stanback's health and upside and Hurd may find himself inactive with Miles passing him as the 3rd WR and Isaiah getting more reps.

I dunno about this one. Personally I would prefer Hurd in there, but it's getting tougher and tougher to justify his OR Stanback's roster spot IMO. If healthy Hurd brings more value on ST's because Felix can clearly handle the KR duties over Isaiah.
You got love it! To start the season we didn't know if we had enough WR's to survive, now at 3-0 we have too many. Commanders will be exsposed as pretenders Sunday-"BElieve it"

Oh no. Our 4th receiver didn't get any catches. Who'da thunk. Of course I remember people throwing the catches stat out there regarding Austin and Hurd.

Those are targets.

Hell he wasn't in the game on offense for the Eagles game. And our wide receivers only had about 4 catches against the Packers, so they weren't really targets.

I'm one of Stanbacks bigger detractors, however he'll never develop if he's spends the year inactive. From what I recall in the opening game vs Cleveland he was open quite a bit but Romo hardly looked his way. I guess Stanbacks needs to earn Romo's trust in practice or else he won't be seeing that many balls his way. Having Austin playing the way he's playing both Hurd and Stanback can be innactive or active and it won't matter. There are some many balls to go around and you still have to feed Owens and Witten first. But what happened to last year's Nobody-can-cover-this-guy-in-practice-Isaiah Stanback? What Stanback needs is to get traded to the Dolphins so that he can practice vs Jackes Reeves.

:hammer:

only reason to keep Stanback active is if Dallas wants to send both him and Austin on go-routes

Bollinger? He has been on the inactive list. He's allowed to dress for the game as the emergency third QB.

i guess he means Johnson, which if he ever gets to play we are toast regardless. not a bad idea, go with romo and rocket arm crayton as his backup. and have bollinger come in as an emergency qb.
