Not so bad. The Pats have 2 first rounders. So they lose one. What about the other?
Better solution would have been to give the Jets the highest first Round pick which would be the one they get from the 49ers, somewhere between 15-20 I'd say. And have the Pats forfeit the other.

I kind of find it odd how alot of the bigger people in the NFL, like Colts' GM Bill Polian and the outspoken Jeff Fisher(who heads the rule committee) have been awefully quiet about it. And for that matter, the Rams and Panthers have been quiet too.Q_the_man;1642878 said:if they make playoffs, 2nd &3rd rounders if they dont.... PLus Belinchik fined 500k......
FWIW-Polian was the same guy who screamed like his hair was on fire when he thought the Pats were mugging the Colts in that '04 AFC Title game.

I keep reading about how it's not a tough enough penalty. Man, anytime you lose a first round pick, it hurts. See Tampa Bay in the Gruden deal, us when we traded two first rounders for Joey Galloway, etc. While TB did win the Super Bowl his first year as coach, they've sucked since. I'm sure losing two first rounders didn't help the situation.

3. Tampa Bay has suffered more from Gruden's trust in various bad QB's as opposed to lacking depth and talent in other areas. No one forced Gruden to start Brian Griese, Chris Simms and now Jeff Garcia.
4. The Cowboys were far worse than the Pats are now so they desperately needed those first round picks. They also lost two picks versus one. And the Cowboys didn't have a free 1st rounder from another team.
