Cornerback depth chart early should be Diggs, Gilmore, Bland, Scott, and Goodwin. They'll fit Jourdan Lewis in there once he's healthy.

At this point I don't see Wright making the team.
I question whether Wright will make the team, but from what I noticed, he was better than Scott on Saturday. Might have fared better than Bland as well. They didn't seem to go at Wright much, which could be just the way the route progressions work or could be because his initial coverage was good.

I thought Wright & Joseph might be on the bubble going into camp. Joseph had a nice pass break up vs JAX without committing PI. I didn't notice Wright

Was hoping to see better from Scott. Thomas did a great job tracking the ball on the INT. Those two guys have their chance to push WRight & Joseph out
Thomas is a free safety. Could affect the corner numbers, though, if we go extra long at safety, but we've already got Kearse, Hooker, Wilson, Mukuamu and Bell. I guess we could count Kearse with the linebackers or Muku with the corners.

In other words, whatever.

The semantics of PUP vs. IR isn't the point.
Correct and incorrect are always relevant. The main reason I pointed it out, though, is there's a misunderstanding about PUP every year.

But you are right, ultimately the point is that they can designate him IR and have him return after three weeks (fourth game). It's noteworthy that for IR the player has to first be on the 53-man roster before being designated; that's why teams cut players they know they can bring back. For PUP, they can go directly from being on the preseason list to the regular-season list, but can't be activated until after four weeks (and if the team doesn't do that, it has three weeks to either activate them, release them or place them on IR).

My guess is that Wright goes to PUP and it allows them to keep an extra DB for the early part of the season.

Oddly enough, that's the type of injury that might be a good thing.
Bingo!!!
Cowboys needed a CB to stash.
Scott Jr. needs to have a bounce back performance, maybe play some gunner to sew how that goes.

PUP ?... Wright is either going on long term IR, or he will be cut and added to the practice squad.

he's not a stand out special teams ace and his former 3rd rd. pick status value should be expired by now.

He's a JAG. and I'd be utterly stunned and disappointed if he somehow makes this 53 man roster, ahead of certain others.
