Nahshon Wright vs. Semi Fehoko

What I saw: Both D players got left in the dust. There was no burst from either. Only reason one got close is because the pass was slightly underthrown.

What I didn't see: NFL quality defenders.

Agreed, but quality NFL defenders go quick in any draft....

Yes, Fehoko is faster and gained separation when he caused Wright to hesitate early in the route. I'm curious if this is the only play in that game where Feheko went up against Wright and beat him, because every corner gets beaten. I mean, we could take Joseph, Surtain, Horn, etc., and show plays where they lost to receivers.

Not knocking the clip because it's good to see both our guys in action. Just keeping it in perspective.

That's why "burst" is so important to a DB. Must possess a burst to catch up, or the beatings will happen a ton.
 
It wasn't a touchdown though. Not sure what happened on that play but Fehoko didn't score a TD in that game. He did pop off for 6 catches and 100 yards though.

Found the answer:
On the opening possession of the third quarter, Mills hit Simi Fehoko on a 47-yard flea flicker to the 1, and Mills scored on the next play giving Stanford its first lead at 16-14.

So the other 5 receptions totaled 53 yards. And it took a flea flicker to get Fehoko open it seems. (Trying to be positive)

One average player got the best of another average player on this particular play....
 
Wright's jams are weak in general, I've seen in another game...brother gotta get a punch! The rep was over at the LOS.

If you've ever been stacked, on a deep route, behind a WR it's a tough spot (playing catch-up) then you add in that SF is faster than TW and you get that.

More impressed with this WR, honestly. CB is gonna need a redshirt (strength), and some coaching.

The Jam: TW should step with his inside foot to the inside (once SF commits inside), and then jam so he's square with the WR and SF has to go thru him, slowing up the route...but TW's feet were stopped and all he had was a weak jam to stop a big WR, no sir.

The Route: TW was beat, yet he looked back for the ball while he was out of phase, and it cost him a chance to knock the ball out.

Already doing that with one 6'4 corner. Doubt both get moved there. But its always possible I suppose
