I think Polite can play several positions on the team, making him more valuable right now.

He's been called one of the smartest players on the team and he already knows the system. Even though we are running a "2-TE" offense, I don't see Polite going anywhere soon.

He will want too much money and would really never play. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up in Philly.

thoughts?
Get rid of character for a guy who took a dump in a woman's laundry?

Get rid of youth for a washed up name?

Get rid of a guy who can play 2 positions and 3 roles for a one dimensional career backup?

I think it's too early in the morning for me to be bewildered by an idea.

I still like Davenport, but I doubt he replaces Polite.

Not sure if Dallas has a role for him right now.

He can return kicks, he is still young (27) and he is a bigger back.

I don't think he'll be all that expensive. His last contract wasn't.

He does have an issue staying healthy.

I wouldn't mind trying to find a place for him.

why do so many people hate on polite?
He is young, smart has good hands and isn't injury prone.

let the young man play

Davenport is a decent talent. Good inside / short yardage runner and has some speed when he gets clear. The problem is he would play the same role on this team that MBIII already plays and I would not trade MBIII for Davenport.

He would not replace Polite because Polite is more versatile and can play one of the TE's in the 2 TE set (or TE - H-back set).

Why are people obsessed with signing every player that gets cut?

What can davenport do that polite cant.

Polite is already a member of this team and knows the system and is ready to go, why would u cut him in place of a guy who offers nothing more?

I dont understand the thought process of many on message boards, now we should sign davenport and a bunch of stiffs like warrick and gaffney..

I dont get it. Do you have any faith in the players on our team? Do you think the players being cut are just fantastic and the teams who cut them are just so stupid that they dont realize it?

Players who get cut have faults and that is why they are let go, to give a younger guy with unkown faults an opportunity to develop, so why sign a middle of the road guy like gaffney when Hurd or rector could be better and are cheaper risks cap wise.

I'm trying to think of how many ways to say no to this. Visually perhaps:

A healthy Davenport is a superior short yardage back to Polite. Polite is more versatile, but from a pure running standpoint, Davenport is the superior player.

I do find it funny that a 25 year old is a young "up and comer" while a 27 year old is a "washed up name".

Upgrade your roster however possible. People get too attached to players they like.

What has Polite done for Dallas so far that is irreplaceable? Nothing.

There are plenty of intriguing names on the street today and they are certainly worth discussing. But maybe we should just have faith in all the players on the Cowboys and not worry about getting better?

Junk still isn't getting it.

:laugh2:

I like how they put it on the Jim Rome Show.

Davenport broke into his ex-girlfriend's apartment, squatted over her laundry basket and "grew a tail."

I guess I find the whole crapping in a girl's hamper story more funny than anything. It is college after all. We could probably fill pages upon pages of threads detailing stories of stupid things people did in college.

Has he had any off the field issues since?

he's also, to quote Parcells, one of the team's strongest players, he can cover kicks, block, run, and catch out of the backfield
