OK, without looking them up, how many QBs can you oldtimers out there identify in this picture?

I think I know eight of the fourteen; any guesses?

Is #10 in the front a very young Fran Tarkenton...?

I think I see Johnny Unitas and Joe Capp and Bart Starr. Of course I could be wrong...

You're right about Fran, Johnny U and Starr, but Kapp isn't in the group.

Front Row Left to Right; Bobby Lane, Fran Tarkenton, Don Merideth, John Brodie, Sonny Jergenson, YA Tittle
Back Row Left to Right: Otto Graham, not sure, not sure, Bobby Douglas, Bart Starr, Johnny Unitas, Sammy Baugh, Not sure

You got Tarkenton, Meredith, Brodie, Jurgenson & Tittle on the front row.

On the back row, you got Starr & Unitas. Seven out of 14 isn't bad.

The only other one I know of w/o looking him up is Bobby Layne (#22 Steelers). My guesses on the Commander & Ram turned out to be right, but since I had to look them up, I'm not taking credit for either, but they will be names that long-time Cowboy fans will recognize.

The other guys (Lion, Brown, Card & Bear) I would be extremely surprised if anybody can guess them, as I don't think they are very familiar (with the possible exception of the Chicago Bear).

50% not bad? I'm ashamed of myself I'm turning in my fan badge. :laugh2:

One is Y.A. Tittle, front row far right. And hey, it's Dandy Don in the front row, number 17.

Looks like John Brodie is there, number 12 in the front row.

And that is definately Sonny Jurgensen as an Eagle.

The rest will be guesses.

Earl Morrall, number 15 front row.

Maybe that's Norm Snead as a stinkin' skin (back row 2nd from right).

The rest, other than those mentioned previously, I don't know...

17 in front is Dandy Don, 14 Bottom Right is Y.A. Title, 12 down in front is John Brodie, 2nd from the left on top might be Bobby Lane IDK. Number 12 on the top right might be Roman Gabriel.

It can't be Roman Gabriel he had thick black hair.

Wow, this is hard because there is no way this was all one year.

Front row Left to right.

Who wore #15 for the Lions? My mind is a blank. I'll guess Jim Ninowski.

Vikings #10 is Fran Tarkenton.

Cowboys #17 is Don Meredith.

49ers #12 is John Brodie.

Eagles #9 is probably Sonny Jurgenson.

The bald head on the Giants #14 gives that away. Y. A. Tittle.

Back row left to right.

You immediately want to say Otto Graham when you see a Browns QB, but he didn't wear #16. I will guess Paul McDonald who later played for Dallas.

Steelers #22 is Bobby Layne.

Cardinals #14. Jim Hart wore #17. It is either going to be Sam Etcheverry or Charley Johnson. Coin flip, Etchevery.

Bears #9 I suppose. That would be Billy Wade.

Packers #15 is Bart Starr.

Colts #19 is Johnny Unitas.

Commanders #16 is not Baugh or Kilmer because they wore 33 and 17. I'll guess Norm Snead.

I am having trouble figuring out what team the top far right is. The New York Titans, later the Jets wore those colors, it could be the Chargers or Rams. The Chargers had the blue paisley colors in those years though. Strictly a guess here. Rams and Zeke Bratkowski.

If not, then I guess it would have to be Bratkowski. Third from the left is Sam Etcheverry. He was actually from Carlsbad New Mexico.

Very close. Here are the names:

(front) Ninowski, Tarkenton, Meredith, Brodie, Jurgenson, Tittle
(back) Plum, Layne, Etcheverry, Wade, Starr, Unitas, Snead, Bartkowski (LA Rams)

I had eight of 14; the ones I didn't get: Ninowski, Plum, Etcheverry, Wade, Snead & Bartkowski. I had guessed Snead & Bartkowski, but I had to look them up to be sure, so I can't claim them.

Well done, gentlemen! By the way, the photo is from a 1961 issue of Life.
