I'm not being ugly, because I hope these guys can make a difference. But how many of these guys are legitimately average or better?

I think a few of these DL have been above average in spurts ... Crawford when healthy, Irving in a few games, Mayowa on some plays, Collins at times ... but our problem is that none of them are above average consistently, at least not yet. I have hopes that some of the younger ones will find that consistency, particularly with Irving and Collins, who I think was the closest to consistently solid last yer. I haven't given up hope on Lawrence, either, but it's tough to overcome a bad back, and injuries are why I don't think we'll see Crawford play at a consistently above-average level ever again. I don't know what to expect of Tapper and Charlton.
