From amongst these players. Yes, I realize Kosier, Holland & Dockery are no longer here. But part of the purpose is to get thoughts on whether we have upgraded.

Livings, Bernadeau, Leary, Arkin, Nagy, Holland, Dockery, Kosier, Costa, Kowalski, Parnell, McQuistan.

This should be who YOU want, not necessarily a prediction. But you have to select from amongst these players. You can keep 10 total.

LT - Smith, Parnell
LG - Livings, Arkin
C - Bernadeaux, Kowalski
RG - Leary, Arkin
RT - Free, Parnell

Well, lets try this a different way.

Are Livings, Bernadeau & Leary and upgrade over last year's Holland, Kosier, and Dockery?

Outside of (LT) Tyron Smith and (RT) Doug Free I think it is pretty wide open as to who will win the positions.

With his surgery I don't see Bernadeau being a center this season.

I can see this easily. But wouldn't be surprised to see McQuiston make the team over Costa.....actual just more wishful thinking.:laugh2:

Yeah.

And I would say Costa circa 2012 is going to be better than Costa 2011.

Yeah now this line is what I'd want strong and physical, and ofcourse young.

Yes they are upgrades, like going from a row boat to a tug boat, but still it's not a balltleship. Outside of Tyron Smith, this OL is average at best, unlike 2011 when it was clearly below average. While this OL has gotten better its still not good enough to have deep Playoff success.

anyone else a little worried that we have an unproven backup tackle? (Parnell) one backup at that?

The Cowboys seem to be, bringing back McQuistan. I'm hoping it's not to keep him on the roster, but suspect it is for vet depth.

This is what I expect the O-line depth to look like.

LT Smith, Parnell
LG Livings, Leary
C Costa, Nagy
RG Bernadeau, Arkin
RT Free, McQuistan

That leaves out Kevin Kowalski, which I hope does not happen. I'd rather keep one unproven backup tackle than cut a young guy who showed promised for a vet who has none.

Holland was a better guard last year than any we've got on the roster. But health, conditioning remain concerns with him. Livings apparently played much better than Holland at times and much worse at times.

Kosier is finished at this point in his career, and I'm not sure Dockery isn't as well. But they are being replaced by a reserve lineman who is hurt.

So, are they an upgrade overall? Probably, but when you upgrade from bad to not as bad, does that really help?

I'll wait and see what Callahan is going to do with them before answering that. I don't have high expectations, but I'll gladly accept a pleasant surprise.

Agreed. But he looked decent last season...and there's noone else currently.
