He said from what he has seen from Roy Williams is that he has looked solid the past few days after starting off a little slow.

Sam Hurd is the star of the WR's in his opinion and is just playing really well right now.

He said the coaches are really high on Miles Austin. When he talks to them thats who they talk a lot about.

He said the players he talked to are high on Patrick Crayton and they believe he has just gone to an entirely different level this year.

Also my favorite of all is when speaking to the coaches they believe Kevin Ogletree may be a special player but they will have a hard time keeping him on the roster.

Special as in he could be an awesome receiver. Not special teams player.

I find it very interesting that all of these guys are having their best camps to date and all are looking close to spectacular, in practice at least. With that said, I also find it interesting that everyone seems to be high on someone different. Coaches like Austin, players like Crayton, but Hurd is playing better than them all. Fans seem split on them as well, let's just hope all of them can continue to carry this into the season.

If Ogletree has the chance to be a special player, then I'd be mad as heck if they couldn't find a way to keep him on the roster, even if he doesn't play special teams. If they can keep oft injured players who miss games and are inactive around for a few years, then find a place for the kid!!

Ummmm and whats the reason for saying they will have a hard time keeping him on the roster??? if we keep 5WRs and they feel that way about him and he performs as such in the pre-season games whats the issue??? To me that sentence stinks of hesitating to cut Stanback. If we cut Ogletree for stanback I'm gonna be hot cause no way in hell does he make it to the practice squad. They better not try and get cute either by trying to hide him from the pre-season games so he can make it through the wires cause we tried that crap with Miles Austin his rookie year and 2 or 3 teams including the Patriots called Jerry and told him the minute he hits the wires they were gonna snag him which caused us to keep so many WRs that year on the roster.

Thats just what Nate said.

I don't care let the best guy win.

For the OU fans Manny Johnson is pretty much a no show and runs about 1 good route and thats the deep route.

News flash... Majority of OU players are overrated when coming out of college.

I believe he was also. I watched him bust my Maryland Terrapins for TD's while @ UVa. I am saying that if the coaches are thinking this way, it's not good.

They didn't say one way or the other if he can play special teams or not.

If he can return punts and play receiver at a high level than Stanback should be very affraid. He might be already.

Could not have said it better myself.

Why? If he is a special player (playmaker) dont you have to find a spot for him?

I think it's amazing that Roy, Hurd, Austin, and Crayton are all super duper special world beaters now.

To the point where even the staff thinks Ogletree could be a "special" player down the line, but they will have a hard time keeping him.

Yeah, um... homer much?

Look, Crayton is what he is. The guy is near 30 years old. You don't 'take it to a new level' at that age. He's likely already peaked.

You must be one of those guys who doesn't believe in player development.

I'll wait and see before I judge.

I do believe in player development.

I've been a huge fan of Hurd for 2 years now, and I got on the Austin bandwagon last year.

But Nate makes it sound as though both of them, as well as Roy and Craycray are gonna be world-beaters.

And I stand by my comment that Crayton isn't going to take it to a new level at his age. He's peaked.

what makes you say that? do you have some inside knowledge of the situation? I'm pretty sure ill take the word of the guys who play with him every day, over that of a poster who has seen nothing comparatively..

oh and someone tell greg ellis he can't have had great season the past few years, he should have peeked a long time ago.. while your at it call kurt werner.
