It's a group of people(predominately over 40) that have years of experience in seeing through the BS that alot of self serving athletes offer up in a way of excuses and blame.

Kind of 'been there seen that nothing new here'.

Now there's the opposite end of the spectrum, a group of apologetic idol worshipers(predominately 30 and under) that will go to all lengths to defend said athletes even if they caught them with a hypodermic needle in one arm and a dead puppy in their mouth.

Kind of that 'bliss mentality' we all adore in a 5 year old.

Unquestionably one of the best responses I have ever read on this forum.

im going to take it that you are for a gerontocrcy as well. thank god its not as the generation of failure is finally beginning to leave the power structure.

it might make you feel better but i just see a lot of out of touch older men sitting at there houses passing judgement on things they have very little knowledge on and certainly no personal knowledge on.

in fact for the most part there has been one other person who i wont mention because i feel he doesnt want to be dragged into this who have basically said that it is unfair and unwise to make blanket comdemnation on other human beings without being privy to the facts. I would go farther to say that it is irresponsible to pass judgement on others without at least attempting to get all the facts.

That is harldy idol worship by any means but rather a great general principle to live by as evidenced by THIS thread of people doing the been there seen that mentality.

I will as an aside say that most of you probably have not been there or seen that anyway.

I also love how now dogfighting is the worst thing that a man can do. i mean traficking dozens of kilos of drugs is bad but going to one dogfight is just unforgivable.

Because I am pretty sure the bible says somewhere "do not judge lest ye be judged" or something like that. Though, I suppose the bible isn't necessarily a historical document. It can be considered a work of fiction....so maybe there is no need to pay tribute to that quote.

And pretty sure Jesus/God were big on forgiveness.

Granted, I don't really care for the bible much, but then again, I try to avoid church like the plague....

But I wonder if many of DVS are Christians and how they reconcile this.

So are you saying any person found guilty of a crime should just be let go after all we should not judge them and in the meantime we can forgive them as well? Come on if Vick did wrong he should have his butt thrown in jail. Being a Christians does not mean you turn a blind eye to things that are wrong.

Which is why the post about AJ Nicholson's stupid ***** girlfriend admitting to making things up drew so many fewer responses than the one where AJ was initially accused. I agree, bad thing for AJ is his history of problems that will prevent many from giving him the benifet of the doubt. It is like a guy who constantly lies after a while you don't know if you should believe what he says or not because he has shown he will lie at the drop of a hat. We all create our own reputations good or bad through our action.

Because the ironic part of all this is, right from the beginning, I've only commented on the evils of dog fighting. I never once brought up Michael Vick's name, and never once remotely commented on his guilt or innocence. Anyone could do a search and find this to be true.

But there are those who decided to take my beliefs on dog fighting..and equate them to I'm saying someone is guilty of something. If someone is going to reconcile anything, perhaps it's those that have the predisposed notion that I have made any judgement whatsoever as to anyone's guilt or innocence based solely on the fact I find dog fighting a sick and dimented activity. So you tell me, who's doing the judging?

And BTW.....Most of those who 'joined' the DVS have done so tongue in cheek, and I have so personally just to show how silly the 'BIW' (Blissful Idol Worshipers)(Pickle Polishers was taken) are in making their 'judgements' on people when they themselves are guilty on not knowing a person's true standing on the subject.
