I'm not much of a fan of the old afternoon Dallas ESPN radio show Coop and Nate, if it is still going at night nowadays- now they've just put Coop on 6-8 p.m. again on ESPN radio and not sure how often Nate Newton is going to be on there. Not sure I like Nate on radio overall as a voice, or his opinions as either very informed about anything other than the Cowboys or even then, or as entertainment ...
But Nate was asked today about Marinelli. Very enjoyable segment on 103.3 FM this afternoon.
Marinelli saw Nate on the sideline as just a media guy this weekend and asked him over to coach the DL. Nate was surprised, but did it watching drills, player by player, told him you're playing too high not enough depth and power which is what happens when you're either out of shape or outclassed, bad footwork, other tips. Marinelli came in and hollered and about laid the anointing oil on Nate in front of his UDFA/tryout players after his talk. Nate was telling them what to do and Marinelli was proud of what he had to say.
Nate said: There are many voices in camp, but he had seldom ever/if ever heard a voice (an effective voice above the others, that is) like Marinelli's. It's not so loud, but it covers the field, he said.
Accd to Nate, when Marinelli calls your name out (in criticism or maybe in praise), "it's like a spotlight on you."
