National Champs Lady Baylor Bears

Baylor women won their 3rd championship last night against defending champ Norte Dame.

HC Kim Mulkey placed herself in elite company with only Geno Auriemma (11) and Pat Summitt (8) with more championships.

The Lady Bears star forward 6’4 Lauren Cox went out with a twisted knee with a 14 point lead. The Irish went on a 11-0 spurt and tied the game in 4th qtr on a frantic finish which Baylor held on after ND star Ogunbowale missed 1 of 2 free throws with 1 second left.

Congrats that was a good ending. Gotta make those free throws at the end of the game.

If Tech wins, the State of Texas can claim the men's title, the women's title, and the NIT title.

And the Lady Bears are a young team. ....a lot of Freshman and I think only 2 Seniors ! They should be in the finals for the next few years. Hopefully Coach Kim will continue recruiting well.

Their two seniors include 6’7 Brown and Jackson transfer from LSU. That’s two of their best players. Cox of course return for her senior year.

Baylor will of course remain a national power as they have been about a dozen straight Sweet 16 but I wouldn’t expect them to make the finals every year.
