I'm with DefendeR. I think the Saints were pumped and all that, but on the blocked punt for the TD the middle of the Flacons line opened so wide I could have run in and blocked the kick. The one Crumpler "dropped" on the goal line was right in his hands; then he slaps it away like a hot potato. And did anyone catch The Playmaker's comment about the Falcons owner saying if "...you have to lose one game, I guess this would be a good one." If the Falcons continue to play this poorly, I'll change my mind.

Also was anyone disturbed, shall we say, to hear that people were telling Steve Young that they had no food nor shelter for the coming months, but they had season tickets to the Saints? Kinda puts a lot of things in perspective doesn't it?...

While I don't believe it is fixed and these games were won by emotion because football is an emotional sport, it is odd how:

a) both NY teams won their first games after September 11;

b) the Texans beat us in their first game;

c) The Saints won in Carolina last year; and

d) The Saints won tonight.

I only watched the first half, because I was tired, but I remember the Falcons' offensive problems having to do more with a hyped NOLA defense and crowd.

I don't think I saw a WR open all night, but that's just what I could see.

The wide receivers run only three routes. A go, a hitch or a curl. You are right, they weren't getting separation on any of those routes.

or maybe some of it was Vick not scanning the field

but their offense is pretty simple, which is probably done for a reason...he isnt a complete QB and will never be...

The only "fix" I saw was the Saints' DLine telling the Falcons' OLine "we're 'fixin' to whip your ***!"

While the game wasn't fixed, the referees gave a lot of leeway to the Saints DB's last night. I know if our DB's played right up in the personal space of opposing receivers they'd be flagged most of the time.

Atlanta had some terrible drops last night. Crumpler dropped two consecutive passes in the endzone. I think Vick was pressured and was gunning it.

Gibbs sure knows how to utilize the Saints front four because at times it looked like the Atlanta OL wasn't even there. The Saints are 2006's version of the 2005 Bucs.

I'm sitting here watching MNF and can't help but to come with the following
observations:

1.Why isnt Vick running wild on NO 's Defense?
2.Why is ATL's game plan to pass to Crumpler all the time?And he keeps dropping them?
3.ATL held Carolina and Tampa Bay to field goals,yet the Aints are misteriously looking good tonight?
4.The Saints suck.

  1. Because the Saints decided they arn't going to let the Falcons run after they reviewed the first two weeks.
  2. Crumpler is by far their best receiver, but NO is playing surprisingly good defense against the pass even though they are stacking against the run.
  3. Carolina and Tampa arn't exactly playing very well at the moment. The Falcons defense isn't that bad, although John Abraham (their best defensive linemen) was absent last night.
  4. They look alot better than they did last year. You have got to give Sean Payton credit. He revamped their squad replacing 28? players (with several Cowboys). Drew Brees, Reggie Bush, Duce McAlister, and Joe Horn are all great players.

1st off because the saints are not going to chase him, they contain him with help on the way.

2nd because the guy can't read a defense to save his life and locks on 1 target.

3 Car and Tampa combined are 1 and 5

4 saints may just be better than what some of us think..

I thought the same thing myself.

please...get a freaking grip...the Falcons caught two teams who played back on their heals, tonight you see the results of a coaching staff thats had two weeks of film to look at what the Turds do offensively...their system is painfully simple (probably because the guy playing QB is painfully simple)

there's no fix...the Falcons just arnt that good

There is only one run around QB in the NFL right now and he is sucking. He has not grown as many hoped and knew he would have to in order to be a true threat. The rest of the QBs in the league are passers and several of them are sucking as well.

Yeah, you're right and the fact that the Falcons OL couldn't pass block or run block and their defense couldn't stop the run or rush the passer and they couldn't play special teams seem play into the fact that Mora didn't prepare his team at all or they just layed down so that NO could win their first home game on national tv since Katrina. Now which seems more likely.

agree with the post, though you left off that their QB couldnt hit the broad side of a barn door with the ball and still runs around carelessly with the football...the blocked punt for a TD would have never happened had the Saints DB simply not botched an easy Vick fumble that he could have ran back for a TD

The bottom line is that Vick sucks as a passer and the Saints have made it their game plan to stop him from running. Vick can't beat anyone with his arm and the whole league knows it so if you contain his running ability you have the Dirty Birds by the danglies.

AS for the Saints "sucking"...they are 3-0 so they must not suck that bad. They have done a great job of rebuilding in a hurry. They have 13 players on the team who were starters for some other team last year. Assuming that they were mostly upgrades (we know that QB was an upgrade...and that Center was not) that is a big step in rebuilding. And Payton seems to be getting it done as a coach.

I agree. I don't think Vick is much of a QB, he is a great athlete but not much of a QB. Teams will learn not to chase him but contain him and then close in on him. On the other hand Brees is with a new team and yet was able to go out and perform as you expect from an NFL QB. Miami has to be kicking themselfs about right now for passing on Brees for Culpepper.
