just got more interesting.....Robin and Brook Lopez, the 7 ft brother tandem from Stanford, have both decided to enter the draft.

there is still no conformation on Hansbrough going pro, but I can say with about 95% certainty that he will enter the 2008 Draft.

There should be a lot of talented big men this year....I am not saying any of them will be superstars, but a lot of, at least, 2nd tier Big Men......

No, sadly you guys are probably due this year after tragically missing out on LeBron (and therefore the entire loaded 2003 draft) and then last year with Oden/Durant.

Last year we had the worst record and ended up with the 4th pick.....missing out on Oden, Durant and Horford......the players that would have helped us the most. I like Conley but we needed a big man more. Yes, I know Durant isn't a big man but he is a big time talent.

The year LeBron was drafted we had the #2 pick which we had to give up because Stu Jackson's dumb arse traded it years before. :bang2:

We should have at least gotten Carmello but we ended up with Hakim Warrick.

Memphis traded it to Detroit several years before (I think even before Jerry West joined the front office). It was lottery protected for only the #1 overall pick, so when Cleveland won the lottery Detroit got Memphis' #2 pick which bumped Memphis out of the first round altogether.

Talk about double or nothing.

That Frosh in your own back yard looks like he's going to be a player. Dorsey, I think? I don't understand that guy. I've seen him and not even really notice him. Then there's Sunday against Texas. Like night and day Yeags.

Joey Dorsey is a senior. I think you mean Derrick Rose. By all accounts, he's going to be a top 3 pick. And yeah, he's amazing. So athletic.

Not to derail this thread, but I wonder if UNC or Memphis could defeat the Heat team that's been playing recently. I realize the ENORMOUS talent difference between college teams and NBA. 99.99% of college teams wouldn't stand a chance against the worst NBA team.

But look at this heat team:

Kasib Powell
Earl Barron
Mark Blount
Ricky Davis
Chris Quinn

The only notable players are Mark Blount and Ricky Davis. The rest are D-League scrubs and undrafted free agents. Earl Barron might be able to do well since he's 7 feet. Mark Blount can handle joey dorsey. Chris Quinn is a pretty good shooter.

Ricky Davis is an enigma. Who knows what you'll get out of him.

But I mean, I think the backcourt of Memphis can definitely take on the Heat. Kasib Powell?? Who?

You make a valid point. Few teams in NBA history are as awful as the lineup the Heat has thrown out there of late. And that's not counting their coach who decided to scout talent for the rest of the season instead of his real job.

I'd love to have Rose but we drafted Conley last year. Dorsey will be lucky to get drafted. He's a terrific athlete but not skilled enough.

The year we had to give our pick to Det we just swapped positions. So instead of #2 we got like #20 or something.....Carmello or Warrick....:bang2:

The Tigers will lose Dorey, Rose, Anderson, and probably CDR this year. I'm pretty sure our nice three year run will come to a quick end.

Two Elite 8's and a Final 4 ain't to shabby :D

I'm not the only one who thinks Hansbrough won't amount to anything in the pro's, am I? I just don't think his hustle and determination translates to much success against elite NBA talent. I like Brook Lopez though. He's got a really nice post game, from the handful of games I saw him. Robin does a good job on the boards and defensively, but he doesn't have the offensive game yet that his brother has. I might still take him over Hansbrough though.

Hansbrough is a puzzling prospect.....He is not the most athletic guy out there......but he outhustles and outworks everyone on the court with him. He seems to have a very nice basketball IQ and plays the game with a lot of heart and intensity.

Will his game be able to translate to the NBA, where players are bigger, stronger, and faster.....or will he turn out to be Danny Ferry, Christian Laettner, or Danny Manning.......so much promise and hype, but only average careers to show for it all.

Nothing he does seems like it will translate well to the next level. Legit big men at the next level will eat his lunch. If I were him, I'd stay another year and further his legend at UNC.

The big man that I'm really curious to see how he turns out is Love. He does everything well except run and jump, but that lack of athleticism usually catches up to guys in the pros. Could be an excellent draft class if all these freshmen declare.

If Hansbrough can hit the 15-18 foot jump shot consistently, I think he can be a solid role player.

If he can't, then he'll end up being Mark Madsen.

Madsen? He has A LOT more skill than Madsen does.

My guess is he will be a more skilled version of Ronny Turiaf.
