NBA to put ads on uniforms.

Yup, at least "red bulls" isn't TOO lame. It could be the new York gatorades!

To be fair, Red Bull owns the team. They also own a team in Austria, Brazil and Germany.

NFL will be next.
Not with the current regime in place. They have steadfastly opposed any advertising on the field, graphic advertising from the TV stations during games and virtual billboards of all kinds.

Sure, maybe 20 years from now that will change. But it's not something we'll be seeing anytime soon.

Wouldn't the "this first down marker brought to you by so-and-so" fall under this category?

That's what I'm saying; the NFL doesn't have that sort of nonsense on TV during games. Things like the Allstate "Good Hands" you see on the field goal nets in college are forbidden by the NFL.

Don't get me wrong... when a game comes back from a station break they can make mention of advertisers or have the "Geico 1st half stats" or whatnot. But during the game itself you won't see any of that.

I was talking about graphically on the screen, not stuff on the actual field or stadium. The graphical first down marker has a sponsor. Maybe I should call it the virtual first down maker instead. The little yellow or red line that networks use so viewers have a better idea of what is going on. It has a sponsor.

I'm not sure that's accurate but, even if you're right, we aren't seeing the sponsor's logo on the field of play next to that yellow first down line. That's the point I'm making.

Everything in the stadium can have a sponsor, but when you're watching an NFL football game, the only corporate logo you will see on your TV is the network broadcasting it. I don't mean stadium signage which is obviously allowed in every single stadium and is seen in the background. And also obviously you see the logos of, for example, the apparell manufacturers and Gatorade, etc. What I'm saying is that Fox can't put a little MS Windows logo on the TV screen while you're watching a game, and no team can put advertising on the field, on the equipment or on the players.

That may change someday, but not under the current regime.

I doubt the NFL does this any time soon. They already make billions every season. Almost every NBA team is losing money. Theyre desperate so this makes sense.

I'm not even sure they have that.

I think CBS calls their halftime breakdown something stupid along the lines of "Score tracker" or something like that.

Damn sure having seen Spiderman swing out of a center's butt yet. I think it was C.C. Sabathia who between pitches had Spidey swing right out from his crack while he was on the mound.

No doubt and I have a pretty good idea who will be at the top of the list. If the Lakers can get 100 mill what do you think the Cowboys or Yankees could get?

It is tacky, but Jerry has never been afraid of being tacky.

I doubt Jerry would put ads on the uniforms if it were come to that. He has taken his sweet sweet time on the naming rights for the stadium. Plus, when the NFL first started doing ads on the practice jerseys, he didn't do it right off the bat the first couple of years. He found the right partner in AT&T and it still kind of blends into the practice uniform.

I think he even said once he wouldn't do ads on game uniforms.

I don't watch baseball so I have never seen or even heard of that before this thread.

That is really funny. I bet he got a lot of jokes his way after his team mates seen that one.

That means that ticket prices will go down right ;)

Realistically it was only a matter of time before this happened in some major league in the states and it'll inevitably happen in the NFL too.
