Jerry Jones asked for what he already has today, in an appearance on 105.3 The Fan. Namely, the ire of Dallas Cowboys fans. A 13-year playoff drought and an increasing penchant for underachieving will do that, huh?

Speaking to Richie Whitt and Blue-Star and NBCDFW's own Newy Scruggs, the owner and general manager said that he likes the fan-born fury that comes, like clockwork, after losses.

"I knew when we walked out of Denver with that loss that we were in for a rough week," Jones said. (How insightful.) "But I can assure you that one thing I don't want is apathy. I want people highly pissed when we're not playing satisfactorily, and that's the case right now."

Highly pissed, eh?

Well, between his franchise player struggling to hit wide-open receivers, his former wunderkind offensive coordinator making bad playcalling standard procedure, and a number one receiver standing on the outside of the league's top 80 in terms of catches, well, I don't think Jerry has to worry much about that one.

Jerry Jones: I Want Pissed Off Fans

By Richie Whitt in Dallas Cowboys

You ask for it, you got it.

The Dallas Cowboys owner tells me and Newy Scruggs this morning on 105.3 The Fan that he not only accepts criticism of his team's play this season, he desires it. Demands it, even.

"I knew when we walked outta Denver with that loss that we were in for a rough week," Jones said of, well, us. "But I can assure you that one thing I don't want is apathy. I want people highly pissed when we're not playing satisfactorily, and that's the case right now."

Oh yeah, and Newy also asked Jerry point blank about the head coach's job status ...

So, is Wade Phillip's job on the line this Sunday in Kansas City?

"No," says Jerry. "No it's not."

Oh, well. <Repeatedly slamming fist into open palm.>

Jones says Phillips is safe -- at least for now

October 9, 2009 4:22 PM

Posted by ESPN.com's Matt Mosley

Speaking on his weekly radio show in Dallas-Fort Worth, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked whether coach Wade Phillips' job could be in jeopardy if he loses in Kansas City on Sunday.

"No. No it is not," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan. The station then took calls for five hours to gauge reaction from motorists.

Jones hasn't shown any of the fire that he used to put on display when the Cowboys were playing poorly. He basically acted like the Broncos were the odds-on favorite to win the Super Bowl after their 17-10 win over the Cowboys. And he's been very careful not to criticize either his quarterback or offensive coordinator. It's interesting that Phillips' job might be in doubt.

Most of us have sort of figured that this is his final season as head coach. But in the aftermath of last Sunday's loss, Phillips has escaped most of the criticism. He is head coach and defensive coordinator -- and the defense actually played pretty well in the loss.

It's Jason Garrett and Tony Romo who are drawing the most criticism. And it's even more maddening to some that Garrett defended his play-calling at the end of the game to Dallas Morning News NBA columnist David Moore.

Hey look at matt mosely taking shots at the fan. Someone might want to give him a ratings book.

I swear that every time I have heard Jerry Jones talk football, from day one, you can tell he is just a fan. And I'm not convinced he is even the most knowledgeable one of those. He just needs to get out of the football side of things, but it won't happen.

Ahh man...can somebody please please keep Jerry from speaking publicly about this team?

"I don't want apathy..." Translation: Less money. It's almost getting to be pathetically funny hearing his takes on this team and different aspects of this team.

I think the only other thing as funny is any and every announcer asking if Wade is in trouble. Common sense and his history would tell you he would never confess that.

Two sides of the coin in Jerry being a more publically vocal owner/GM. He sticks his foot in his mouth too frequently. But you get information from the inside even if it might not be entirely accurate at times. It's still news. Remember when Parcells was here and the "Loose Lips Sinks Ships" routine??

When parcells was here, this is how it went.

Parcells would talk to the media on monday.

on tuesday jerry would go on with norm.

Jerry would repeat nearly verbatim what bill said the day before. there were never things happening that people could question. there was one voice it was Parcell's voice. Right or wrong this is the structure we had and even jerry followed it.

Now since the start of last season, We get the players take, wades take, jerry's take, campo's take, occasionally the garrett's.

it has caused confusion within the media, confusion with the fans, the medical reports are absolute comedy and Jerry and Wade are always saying the opposite things.

A simple rule of one voice from wade could clear alot of stuff up, but we dont have that.

We are getting to the point where most of the people at valley ranch need to be walking on eggshells again, starting with the owner/gm/president.

that is interesting.

I rarely listen to the fan so I havent heard it. Did he sound lethargic with his response on bringing wade back?

If we lose sunday, I am sure the locals will start seeing coaches looking for homes in the area!!!!

Yeah, Jerry Jones sounded pretty angry and it actually had a tone of alot of the fans around here.

But it should be mentioned that in this same interview, he said he had no plans to remove Wade Phillips and that Tony Romo was his guy.

I've been driving around all day and The Fan was reporting that someone inside the Dallas Cowboys organization (under the condition of anonymity, of course), claims that some inside the organization have lost confidence in Tony Romo.
