I know SOME of that from the libs here is because they hate the military, but anyone with any football brains knows not to underestimate Navy or Air Force. While they do NOT have the talent, discipline and spirit can make up for a lot. but then some here really are football stupid and think its all about talent.

I for one know that of all the academies that the Air Force tends to have the best football program and is a decent on in the college landscape. They still are not a power and ND should be able to beat them more times than not, which they have. This is one of those years when ND did not. Of course this is probably the worst year in ND history. Yet anyone that says or thinks that must be a hater or pinko commie by your standards.
Of course Navy and Army are a big step below most D1A schools, so there should never be an excuse for a big time program to lose to them. They are in the class of North Texas, which Navy beat this weekend. North Texas was a D1AA school not too long ago and probably still should be.
Face it, ND sucks and sucks bad this year. For having two top ten classes in a row, they show very little talent on the field. Now they will have their third straight top ten recruiting class. I still doubt they will have a dramatic turn around next year. And I am a ND fan, but that probably doesn't matter.

Quite the opposite actually. They obviously aren't in the same class as the top 25 caliber schools, but neither are the perenial bottom dwellers of the Pac 10, the SEC, etc. The fact is, they are competitive with many D1A schools that aren't even comparible in terms of curriculum, commitment, and the opportunity to further pursue football. There is a lot of ignorance on this board when it comes to the service academies.

When Air Force was the better team, they were significantly better than either Navy or Army. They were also beating other good teams in the nation and giving other top programs fits.
Navy or Army would be in the bottom of any conference. That is just the way it is. I got no problem with that. Their main goal is not to field great football times. They have a higher calling. There will be years where their team is good, but for the most part they would be there along with Baylor of the Big 12 or Stanford of the Pac 10 and so on. Baylor is a clear step below other D1A schools and I view the Navy and Army programs the same way. There is a clear difference in talent level that exists most every season. That is not ignorance. That is watching the teams play.

I don't need to be educated on the priorities of Navy's athletic programs or its students...others on this board do. To say a D1A school is a step below other D1A schools seems a bit strange to me...you can't have top tier schools without the other end of the spectrum. That doesn't mean Baylor and Navy aren't D1A schools...they're just not amongst the better D1A schools...only Navy has an obvious recruiting disadvantage.
I'm referring to the common misconception that Navy is no better than a D1AA school or even worse on the is board...ask canadiancowboysfan. What Navy and Air Force has managed to do over the last ten years is truly remarkable. Anyone saying otherwise is ignorant, it wasn't a jab at you.
