Down 24-10, and it's 3rd and 1.

What freakin' moron would call a freakin' DRAW play?

Charlie Weiss. That's who.

31-10. I hope Weis chokes on a meatball.

Zbikowski and Carlson are the only guys on this team worth a damn.

Amazing... Notre Dame has zero penalties, yet they're losing to freakin' Air Force by 3 TDs.

Off we go into the wild blue yonder
Climbing high into the sun;
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder,
At'em boys, giv'er the gun!
Down we dive spouting our flames from under,
Off with one hell-uv-a roar!
We live in fame or go down in flame,
Nothing'll stop the US Air Force!

Minds of men fashioned a crate of thunder
Sent it high into the blue
Hands of men blasted the world asunder,
How they live God only knew!
Souls of men dreaming of skies to conquer
Gave us wings ever to soar,
With scouts before and bombers galore,
Nothing can stop the US Air Force!

Here's a toast to the host of those
Who love the vastness of the sky,
To a friend we send a message
Of his brother men who fly.
We drink to those who gave their all of old,
Then down we roar
to score the rainbow's pot of gold.
A toast to the host of men we boast, the US Air Force.

Off we go into the wild sky yonder,
Keep the wings level and true!
If you'd live to be a grey-haired wonder,
Keep your nose out of the blue! (Out of the blue, boy!)
Flying men guarding the nation's border,
We'll be there, followed by more,
In echelon we carry on! Hey!
Nothing'll stop the US Air Force!

Weiss is a horrible play caller.

When was last time ND lost to two military academies in a season? I don't know but it brings a smile on my face.

Next year ND Has Coast Guard lined up. They scrimmage the Marine's in the Spring and word has it they may go to Europe and play the France National Football team. Now that will be a battle for the ages!

** is a good team. you gomers just show how little you know about football with your contempt for the academies. I know SOME of that from the libs here is because they hate the military, but anyone with any football brains knows not to underestimate Navy or Air Force. While they do NOT have the talent, discipline and spirit can make up for a lot. but then some here really are football stupid and think its all about talent.

I dunno, I think ** might have had the edge in talent too. That 12 year old kid, Chad Hall, is pretty freakin' good.

Give me a break. You don't need to bring politics into this at all. And being liberal doesn't mean one has contempt for the military.

I for one know that of all the academies that the Air Force tends to have the best football program and is a decent on in the college landscape. They still are not a power and ND should be able to beat them more times than not, which they have. This is one of those years when ND did not. Of course this is probably the worst year in ND history. Yet anyone that says or thinks that must be a hater or pinko commie by your standards.

Of course Navy and Army are a big step below most D1A schools, so there should never be an excuse for a big time program to lose to them. They are in the class of North Texas, which Navy beat this weekend. North Texas was a D1AA school not too long ago and probably still should be.

Face it, ND sucks and sucks bad this year. For having two top ten classes in a row, they show very little talent on the field. Now they will have their third straight top ten recruiting class. I still doubt they will have a dramatic turn around next year. And I am a ND fan, but that probably doesn't matter.

Navy has been significantly better than Air Force in recent years, and are far more capable than you are giving them credit for. They are NOT a big step below most D1A schools. Quite the opposite actually. They obviously aren't in the same class as the top 25 caliber schools, but neither are the perenial bottom dwellers of the Pac 10, the SEC, etc. The fact is, they are competitive with many D1A schools that aren't even comparible in terms of curriculum, commitment, and the opportunity to further pursue football. There is a lot of ignorance on this board when it comes to the service academies.

Navy has not been significantly better than Air Force. Over the last few years, they have been better, but it has still been close. When Air Force was the better team, they were significantly better than either Navy or Army. They were also beating other good teams in the nation and giving other top programs fits.

Navy or Army would be in the bottom of any conference. That is just the way it is. I got no problem with that. Their main goal is not to field great football times. They have a higher calling. There will be years where their team is good, but for the most part they would be there along with Baylor of the Big 12 or Stanford of the Pac 10 and so on. Baylor is a clear step below other D1A schools and I view the Navy and Army programs the same way. There is a clear difference in talent level that exists most every season. That is not ignorance. That is watching the teams play.

Personally, I don't care if Navy is better or worse than ** or Army. What matter is these academies, where sports are secondary to building future military leaders are beating major school teams, football powerhouses. There is no denying that military academies have weak athletic program but so what? Those young men and women's primary focus is on being the military leaders, period.

I never said that Navy would be amongst the top tier schools in a big conference...I didn't even imply it. I don't need to be educated on the priorities of Navy's athletic programs or its students...others on this board do. To say a D1A school is a step below other D1A schools seems a bit strange to me...you can't have top tier schools without the other end of the spectrum. That doesn't mean Baylor and Navy aren't D1A schools...they're just not amongst the better D1A schools...only Navy has an obvious recruiting disadvantage.

I'm referring to the common misconception that Navy is no better than a D1AA school or even worse on the is board...ask canadiancowboysfan. What Navy and Air Force has managed to do over the last ten years is truly remarkable. Anyone saying otherwise is ignorant, it wasn't a jab at you.

I agree. If players at every school had to meet the daily requirements of the players at the academies and still prepare for a football game, it would narrow the gap quite a bit. There would still be a talent discrepancy, but those guys just have to work so much harder.

I still think there is a huge difference in top tier teams and bottom tier teams in D1A. It is probably not enough of a difference to force bottom tier teams to go D1AA, but there is a difference. It is why a Navy lost 43 straight times to ND. It is not as if ND was exactly a top 10 team every single year during that streak. ND has not even won a bowl game in 12 years, but still beat Navy during that time until this last game.

Baylor has jumped up and beaten Texas or A&M from time to time, but for the most part those schools have owned Baylor. Same with Rice. There is just a clear distinction between those programs. Same with Vandy in the SEC.

There are reasons for the distinction in the programs. Whether it is the size of the school, money, academic requirements or whatever. It doesn't matter what the reasons are that cause the difference in talent and performance, but that a difference in talent and performance does exist.
