I have only managed to watch the first half today and plan on getting to the rest of it later on tonight. I will post an update when I finish. But here are the things I noticed after watching the All-22 tape. Most of this report is focused on the defense after the offense didn't do a lot in the first half.

One of the very first things I noticed with the All-22 was how often Dallas brought a safety (mostly Sensy) close to the line of scrimmage, then to immediately drop them 20 yards down field on the snap of the ball. Eli didn't seem to trust any reads down the field early in the game. Sensy looks more comfortable this year playing the rover role for Ryan.

On 3rd downs, Lee and Church were our nickle LB's and very often we had 3 safeties on the field with Church in the box with Silva and Sensy deep. I am pleasantly surprised to see how well Church is playing. He is fantastic at coming from the safety spot and filling a lane and making the tackle. The kid has a really bright future.

Speaking of Sean Lee, his 1st quarter forced fumble at 6:43 mark was one of the most unbelievable plays I have seen in a long time. The Giants run the ball outside of the left hash with the speedy Wilson and Lee comes all the way across the field, sifting through a block to make the tackle and force the fumble. He is incredible.

I think Bruce Carter is starting to get it. On the 2nd play of the game, he jumps at a short pass to Cruz, but he doesn't quite trust himself yet. However, it is encouraging to see that he is seeing the right things. He just needs to go and make the play instead of 2nd guessing himself. And oh, Carter can absolutely fly to the ball and once he gets there is a very solid tackler. Martellus Bennett is a tough dude to bring down, but I saw at least twice where as soon as Carter got to Bennett he brought him right down. I think he will really breakout in the 2nd half of the season once he gets some starts under his belt.

As crazy as this might sound, DeMarcus Ware might be as good in the run game as he is in the pass game. The Giants were constantly sending Bennett in motion to block Ware on running plays and Ware beat him almost every time to make the stop. He was very disruptive in the running game last night.

Sean Lissemore is one bad dude. His technique isn't perfect, but he is gritty and a fighter. You better bring your lunch pale when you block him because he will fight you every single second he is out there. There were a few plays last night where he dominated his man in one on one situation. He was only asked to play NT a few times but held up pretty well against double teams. I love how physical he plays.

As a defense, this team is a MUCH better tackling team than previous years. Rarely did anyone miss a tackle or take a bad angle. Very encouraging.

Now to offense.

One thing I liked a lot from Kevin Ogletree is that when he runs a slant, he uses his body to catch the ball. Michael Irvin made a living from catching slants across the middle using his body to protect the ball. I also liked how Ogletree after the catch uses both hands to cover the ball. It is obvious to me how much Garrett has stressed ball security.

One thing Ryan Cook does well that David Arkin never figured out was that when your not blocking someone, find someone to block. It seems so simple, but yet Arkin never really figured it out. I am going to study Cook a little more throughout the week.

Tyron Smith struggled with JPP's strength more than anything. It is unreal the combination of size, speed, and strength JPP has. I will give him more credit than blaming it on Smith.

Working on the 2nd half now.

Thanks for the post :) Can you post some screen shots along with your analysis?

I will see what I can do. My iPad isn't the greatest for uploading pictures but it would be helpful.

Great job. I really appreciate it when some of you guys take the time to break it down in more detail. I'm looking forward to reading your second half analysis.

if you get the imgur app you can take a screen shoot on the ipad, use the app to upload to imgur and imgur will give you a link that you can use the img tag on here to post

Thanks for the review. Most of it seemed to be the case watching live but it's good to have the tape confirm what we thought we were seeing.

How may potential big runs did Murray miss????

Not many in the first half. One thing I have noticed about Murray is that he typically gets the amount of yards the play is blocked for. Every now and then he will make a big play out of nothing, like his 48 yard run in the 3rd quarter.

Very nicely done ND. Some really good perspectives I haven't heard elsewhere. I haven't rewatched the game yet so this helps me see some things to watch for as well.

Thanks for the breakdown...this forum is gold.

I agree and remember one play in particular where he flashed through traffic out of no where to stop what looked to be a nice gain.
