If Zack Martin has to sacrifice and play RT then Neal needs to go back to safety and help out there with depth at LB to cover his spot.

Depth at LB will all of a sudden start looking thin...

Hooker and Kazee are fine at FS and SS respectively.... Kazee has already proven he can make big hits and force fumbles as well as ball hawk... if we need a bigger SS to play the run, Kearse has shown to be capable if Donovan Wilson can't play.

Jaylon Smith and Micah Parsons are our primary passing-down EDGE rushers from OLB if both Lawrence and Gregory are out, but we still have LVE, Neal and Cox to fill in at ILB (two ILB positions on base downs, only 1 on nickel downs). If Neal is moved to SS then that forces Cox in and we don't have a backup at LB anymore, at least on base downs to play the run.

It’s early but I don’t get the hype around this guy and why on earth he’s getting more reps than Vander Esch.

I guess he’s shown Quinn something in Atlanta but so far the dude is a complete jag of a player and Quinn is keeping better talent off the field for one of his guys.

This is not specifically directed at any player, but that is one of the main flaws the Cowboys have had.

Loyalty is great in recreational sports leagues, but professional teams should be a "what can you do for the team now" decision process.

I have said many times that I think every position should be up for grabs every year regardless of contract, familiarity, loyalty, etc.

Cowboys coaches for years have played favorites over the best players and usually only an injury or several wasted games forces them to do what they should have done from the start.

The best coaches in the NFL will replace any player on their roster if a new one performs better. The Cowboys seem to let coach's favorites and contract situations decide who starts.

Jimmy only cut duds....he played favorites just all coaches do...

I removed that part because I knew someone would focus on that when it was just a general statement to how long it has been since the Cowboys have made logical decisions when it comes to starters.

Makes sense, but the fact remains.....all coaches play favorites. Loyalty is I huge part of sports. It's human nature.

I said this from the start, Neal should stay at S, and not be a LB.
Time will tell, it was one game against the world champs and players, as well as coaches need to still get in a groove.

Kazee just made a key turnover vs TB in the RedZone with a hit that finally resembled a safety and now we want him replaced. SMH.

I have no problem with one or two player favorites, but the Cowboys have a long history of doing that with most players who have been here and were once a good (or assumed they would be good) player or players who early-to-midway through their large contracts.

Other teams move on when a better option comes along. The Cowboys reserve the spots indefinitely for those same players until forced to make the change.

Best players should play.

I agree....doesn't happen, though. That's reality. Many potentially great players have been cut because they weren't the "teacher's pet"..
Happens in all walks of life....like I said, it's reality. We see it here, there and everywhere.

Kazee doesn't play strong safety. He plays free safety. Additionally, there was nothing wrong with the SS play, the OP is trolling again

it's a reason why they removed Neal from the safety role, and more closer to the line as a rover type LB,
If he was being more exposed in the deeper half of the field and more effective at/around the line, then why not try him at a position he seems to more excel the best ?

I understand it happens in all walks of life, but the best run/coached teams do not make a habit of doing it, at least not for most players and year after year after year.

The Cowboys end up waiting and hoping and waiting and hoping that the player will stay on the field and play well until they are eventually forced to replace them.

It maybe because of what they (coaches) have been observing and evaluating upon practice tape, preseason game film, etc, Neal's more familiarity with Quinn's scheme and defense. that
could go for a more easier, smoother transition. That's key for a new defense.

I don't think we can say according to size/height and former 1st round status, let's declare LVE an instant starter.

With Wilson out the Cowboys are thin at safety depth.

Why did they sign Malik Hooker?

He has started 35 of his 36 NFL games played.

They also sign Kearse as a Free Agent and he was a starter in Detroit last year.
