I've watched Prince over the last few years, and I think he is the real deal. He has great athleticism and fluid hips, and stays in very tight against his man. Many analysts are still torn on who will be the better CB, Peterson or Prince...I would take Peterson, but Prince would be an outstanding consolation prize in my opinion.

By the way, yes he missed a tackle on Locker's TD...It happens.

In other news, I am also REALLY hoping we go after Nebraska's kicker, Alex Henery. He's broken records at Nebraska and in the NCAA for his FG accuracy. I can see him being a reilable kicker for years to come. If we can snatch him in the 5th round, I hope we do. I know it's terrible to conceive of drafting yet another kicker, but this guy seems like the real deal, and someone we could use to replace Buehler.

number 4 on nebraska what position does he play. 150 tackles:eek:

LB

He will have to be a safety in the pros though because he only weighs about 210lbs.

man he's small he looked like a safety...lol thats why i was asking his position. He would have to do some bulking up just for a 4-3 team to take him.

Is he a good enough athlete to be a nickel LB and matchup against 3rd down RBs and TEs?

This is LaVonte Davids first year since transferring from a junior college. He would be absolutely stupid to go pro. He isn't ready yet.

Athleticism as a LB is not an issue at all for him. See here ..

In the NFL, I think he would still be a decent safety prospect because he has shown the ability to regularly cover TEs. But still I think he would be a 4th round or later type prospect.

:hammer:

His problem is that he's a converted safety. He's only 6'1, 210 lbs with wet clothes on. Yes, he makes a ton of tackles, but he's often out of position and overpersuits too much. He does not have a natural LB's instincts and the only defenses he might be able to play for are the 4-3 as a WILL backer. He wouldn't be drafted if he comes out, might be a 7th round pick at best. He needs to stay in school and polish his game alot. He does have a nag for making big plays, which is a big plus, but he's not ready.

Darren Woodson turned out alright coming from a similar situation and size.

I was thinking about that since last year, but I came to the conclusion that he's going to get picked early by one of the crazy teams that do that. He had a bad game yesterday, as most Huskers did, but the kid has a cannon for a leg and ice runs through his veins, not blood. David Buehler's problem is that he gets too worked up and loses concentration.

Woodson could also run a 4.38 forty.

He doesn't have the speed to play safety in today's NFL.

Untrue on alot of accounts.

David played some safety at Miami Northwestern in HS, but spent the majority of his time at LB and was recruited into colleges as a LB. He also played LB at Fort Scott while at junior college.

So he was not 'converted'.

David does not have issues with 'over-pursuit' or 'positioning' either. He did have a horrible game against Texas where he was actually benched for issues he was having, but the entire staff has commended him for how he rebounded.

With Lavonte, the reason he is able to be so highly productive at such a light weight is because of his athleticism, but also because he is a film room junkie. By staying in the film room constantly, Lavonte has been able to find himself in proper situations all year and make correct reads in leading Nebraska's D all year.

You don't break a single season tackle record at a school like Nebraska, in your first collegiate season no less, while having positioning problems or over-running plays.

Just based off of smarts and instincts, Lavonte is without a question ready for life in the NFL. Physically, he just is not there.
