No, this isn't a bash Felix thread. He's shown he can have success in this league when he can stay healthy.

However, since Jones becomes a free agent at the end of the season and can't stay healthy, Dallas needs one of the young guys to show he is capable of replacing Felix next year.

Quite frankly, I haven't seen it from Tanner yet. He runs hard and fast with a good burst into the line, but appears to lack vision. Now, that's based on a limited sample, and I'll be glad for him to prove me wrong.

Dunbar shows good burst, wiggle and balance, but we'll have to see if he has the vision and enough power to succeed.

I am looking forward to seeing Dunbar on kickoff returns because Felix hasn't taken advantage of the few opportunities he's had there this year. Time to see if Dunbar can do it before possibly returning the role to Jones, or Dwayne Harris, (if Dunbar fails) when Murray returns.

No, we need Romo to start running a hurry up offense and chucking it all over the field, with some runs mixed in. Why teams don't go all "Oregon" and just run a defense ragged from the opening coin toss is beyond me. Get your *** up there and run another play already! When has it EVER been proven that burning 30 seconds or so between plays is an advantage to an offense? If you allow even one defensive substitution to get on the field, you're running the offense too damn slow.

Oh, God no. Please tell me one of these ham and eggers isn't replacing Felix next year.

We need to bring in a back with some talent. Murray's the same durability risk that Felix has been.

What makes you think they don't have talent?

I'm asking that from the standpoint of not knowing exactly what they can and can't do (although I've at least got a good idea about Tanner) at this point.

You do know some UDFAs have turned into top-notch NFL running backs, right?

I'm in no way saying it will happen with either Tanner or Dunbar, but what I am saying is that Dallas needs to see if that potential is there.

Tanner has no vision, wiggle or 2nd gear. Dunbar's size makes him a complimentary player at best. He'd be a liability playing significant snaps.

I'm sure you can find top notch players in UDFA at all positions but the odds are long and these two have shown me nothing to think they are hidden gems.

Give me the Joneses at running back next year, and air it out for the rest of the money (after pass protection was made a draft day and free agency priority).

Seriously, I'm fine with Murray, Tanner and Dunbar. Plus spending a mid to low draft pick every second year on a fresh back (and looking at UDFAs for competition).

You better be fine with Tanner and Dunbar carrying the load if you go that route. Murray is not a workhorse. You have to assume he's going to miss time. The thought of Romo playing behind his usual crap line and handing the football off to his starting RB, Phillip Tanner, scares the bleep out of me.

You make a good point about constantly drafting fresh legs. These backs hit the wall too quickly to assume you're set for the foreseeable future.

Dunbar might have something. Need to see more. He got wiggle, got speed. You won't know unless they play him.

I've actually seen a few things from Dunbar that make me think he might be, but I agree that he has to show it by taking advantage of the opportunities he'll get.
