Need Help: 49er Fans think Vernon Davis > Jason Witten

Yeah, so I'm having this arguement over who's a better TE.

I've been saying that Witten is a more complete TE and Davis doesn't even compare, and that he hasn't done anything.

Then of course the comebacks have been:
We have no QB,
If Romo was on SF, Davis' numbers would shatter Wittens.

Still heated about this arguement.

Your thoughts?

If you ask anyone, besides a 49er fan, they will most definitely say that Jason Witten is the better receiver. That "He doesn't have a QB" argument, while true to some degree, is bull. One can speculate all they want but it all comes down to production.

Witten is the best all around TE in the game. He does everything a TE needs to do and is around the best in the NFL at all of them. Davis is a very good TE but accomplishments say it all. Don't forget that Witten had a pro bowl season I believe before our team was really that good.

they are both listed as TEs but if you think about it 2 very different positions.
Witten is the all around traditonal TE and Davis more of the H back type that Frank Wychek made famous and yes I understand that Davis has much more potential than Whychek but the position is simiular in my opinion

Tell them they're in the minority if they think it's Romo who makes his supporting cast better, as opposed to the other way around.

Listen, if the "QB" argument is being posed, just ask them who the best wide receiver in the game is, they will more than likely say Randy Moss, after that quickly say "Well (Insert your favourite wide receiver who isnt top 10 here) would be the best in the NFL if he had Peyton Manning throwing to him."

Witten was voted the best in the league at his position by the Associated Press. Romo wasn't.

If Witten owes his succes to Romo, then how come Witten is 1st team all-NFL, and Romo isn't even 2nd team?

If they say, "because there are some great QB's ahead of Romo," then hit them with, "How many great TE's are there ahead of Witten?"
