Ok im getting this computer from Dell.

Here is the link.

http://www.dell.com/us/en/business/...d.aspx?refid=desktop-vostro-220mt&s=bsd&cs=04

Its a heck of a deal... Right?

Well if your item you purchased is 499 you get free shipping.

So this computer costs 439 so I thought why not make an upgrade and get the thing over 499 so I get the shipping for free because shipping will be around 50 bucks anyways not including taxes.

So my dilemma is which item should I get.

A: Should I get the video card. 256MB ATI Radeon HD 3450 -supports DVI,HDMI,VGA Connections.

Thats an upgrade from this model.

Integrated Video, Intel® GMA X4500HD

or should I get the computer speakers.

The computer speakers I have now kinda suck and have a short.

Do I really need the video card? I never ever play games. I only watch youtube vids as well.

It comes with an hd monitor. Will I still get all the effects of my monitor without it?

I never play games. But it does come with an HD monitor and about the only vids I watch are youtube.

Will the other video card effect the every day web surfing and look of the desktop?

I do use my speakers though and my current speakers have a short and are fairly old.

id go with the card also....you can get better speakers somewhere else

If those are the only two choices: video card.

If I was going through Dell's options, I'd up to 4 GB RAM to add $45 and up the CPU one notch to get a total of $539, just on the basis of most frequently used resources. All the upgrades are messed prices to me, though, but such is business.

Another option is upping the CD drive to a blu-ray-ROM drive, then making your little box into a HTPC.

If you call Dell and get a business rep, you can probably get a better deal. As for the video card, do you play games? If so, then the video card is what you want. If you are a big fan of music and intend on using your computer as your home sound system, then go with the speakers. Of course, those speakers could be crap. Speakers for a home music system, should be selected carefully. I go video card and memory. They will make the biggest improvement in your system. CPUs aren't that big a deal when they are all new CPUs as long as you're not buying the bottom of the line. Then you're probably getting smoked on the price.

First you have to decide what the majority of use for your computer will be. If you do not do games then the video card is not that big a deal. The Monitor- get a HD they do not cost that much but really make a difference.
High speed memory is always a good buy. sounds like internet capability is the biggest factor since you mentionedYou Tube. So make sure it has the latest editions of WIFI and depending on how you connect you might want to make sure it has ethernet, etc capability. As regards HD 500 Gig is more then big enough- you will never fill it.

I'd go with the card also but I'd get more than a 256mb card. Go for at least a 512mb even if you don't plan on playing games.
