I hate the idea of keeping inactive McQ on the roster but nobody capable of playing backup G.

Looks good except I don't see the need to keep McQuistan. Last year Parnell was normally the only OT on the 46-man game day roster. In this scenario, McQuistan would not be active for game-1, but would get his salary guaranteed for the season because he was on the 53-man roster.

Also, is it highly doubtful that both Coleman and Spears make the roster, IMO.

McQ can play all 5 spots on the line and has experience on STs. I just think Dallas will carry at least 9 lineman like they have in the past.

I've heard that the team is considering putting Matt Johnson on IR. That would free up a roster spot for a guy like Orie Lemon.

I like keeping Adrian Hamilton on the team but he needs to be better on special teams.

Exactly the two players I battled with at the end of it. I believe the team has high hopes for Johnson and can always pick up someone like Lemon in FA if needed.

You believe that? Like, he could do it in an NFL game, or in a high school game?

He can get us through a game and not have it be a complete disaster.

Where? Just curious if it's a credible source.

The NFL requires players on IR to have a season ending injury.

IMO, they only keep Lemon on the 53 if they also plan to have him on the 46; otherwise, he should be easy to keep on the PS since he was there all of last year and didn't get signed by another team.

With or without Johnson, keeping Lemon would bump Hamilton off the roster, because it is highly unlikely that they keep 10 LBs total. In the last 5 years, they have kept 7, 8, 9, 9, and 7 LBs.

He would probably be one of the 7 players that are not active on game day similar to Geathers' situation last year.

I think they put Leary on the PS, bring in a veteran C after cuts and move Arkin back to G.

If they want to put Johnson on IR before the season starts, they will have to waive him injured first and have him clear waivers. They would most likely lose him if they tried that.

Otherwise, they will have to keep him on the roster at least until the season starts. Then they could place him on IR. But he would have to be kept on the 53-man roster until then. That doesn't free up a roster spot for anyone.

Coleman isn't making this team...

You do realize he's starting and has been since last season.

I find it easier to cut someone who isn't in the starting lineup every week.

On top of that, the only player (Sean Lissemore) who was likely to replace him has already been reserved for a "sixth man" role by the defensive coordinator, coming off the bench to rotate in for Jay Ratliff and Coleman.
