Anyone noticing this trend? What was once decent networks, turn the way of the more reality tv oriented shows. Total garbage.

I watch maybe 90 minutes of non-Sports TV a week right now. GoTs and lately one show of "How It's Made" per week.

Occasionally I will find something else to watch, but generally I don't even check. I do more productive things than watch TV.

Today's TV blows ***. Though, for the most part it always has.

I have not watched any network show for years. HBO or the like is where the quality is now

They do these shows because they are cheaper to make and still get the ratings.

they are on because people watch them

Something about train wrecks that have people rapt. :laugh2:

Even the good channels are being diluted with this garbage. A&E has some pretty lousy looking shows. Storage Wars? What's next, watching grass grow wars? The next big thing will be reality shows about people watching reality shows (you heard it here first. ;) ). The perfect circle...

Yeah, i've been noticing for about 10 years now..ha, j/k.

I keep waiting for this fad to be over. But yeah it is cheaper, beats paying the Friends cast a billion dollars an episode...and it is total garbage, and its not even "reality" tv. Anyone think this stuff is real is completely naive.

I watched that Repo men or whatever its called a couple times, they're all actors. Its stupid. I watch Pawn Stars if i stumble across it, mainly just because im interested in some of the items, not because i think thats actually happening.

I remember watching the first couple Real Worlds on MTV back in the early 90's, guess it was the advent of all this. I watched those kind of religiously cause it was something different, and may have been partially real.

I have seen bits of Basketball Wives, Jersey Shore, Mob Wives, Bad Girls Club, Real Housewives of New York, Keeping with the Kardashians etc. Horrible television! People call this entertainment?

On Basketball Wives, those chicks can't be in the same room together without having a physical altercation. :laugh2: Why hang out together if you can't get along? Shaq's ex-wife started that mess.

The ONLY reality show I watch is the first one that came out...C.O.P.S.

Network TV was ruined before the invention of reality shows. Other than local news ans sports I have not watched network TV in years.

There is no such thing as reality tv. We were watching some new tattoo reality show, and on the credits, there's a disclaimer..the first sentence is..
"the producers have input on the judges decisions and final outcome"...

Mtv doesn't even show anything about music anymore it's ridiculous. I have a HUGE bone to pick with people who watch these shows. Your killing television for ignorant crap.

I watch a few of them, maybe just out of the fact there really isn't anything much on anymore. I watch American Idol because my daughter likes it and I was in the industry. I also watch Amazing Race because I like to see the other cultures. My favorite "Reality" show is Shark Tank. I love the entrepreneurial spirit that is on display there each week.

We also watch Biggest Loser but that's because my wife watches it. Which is odd because she is one of the most fit people I know.

I have been watching Celebrity Apprentice since a friend was on it last year.

I do think Reality TV has killed some good shows. Chuck, Terra Nova, The Event and some others didn't survive and they should have because they at least had an interesting premiss.

Shark Tank and Dragons Den are both really good. I love seeing the products at some of the stores I go to.

Chuck had a 5 season run with a final season, it more than survived lol.

They all have similar ones.

I've seen disclaimers about how parts not effecting the outcome of the show are edited.

They film the show and then edit it to get the most dramatic result.

I usually only watch Discovery or History Channel or TLC or AE or something like that.

I haven't watched many big network shows.

I did like the show, "Expedition Impossible".

That's about as close to "reality" as it gets because it likely has so little editing.

They still edit it and paint the bad guy as best they can by selectively showing comments and pieces of dialog that are away from camera that are negative but it doesn't have the post-production that you see on many of these other shows.

The only true reality t.v is sports. I don't watch any shows anymore. Sadly shows like the Sopranos and Lost are gone for good.

Oh don't get me wrong, I know it's not "real". Look no further than my opinion on American Idol to see that. While American Idol isn't put across as a Reality TV show explicitly, it shares a lot of the same elements. Those stupid cut scenes with the dramatic music, the dramatic events, the "behind the scenes" stuff, you get the idea.
