If ever their was a season we needed Randy Gregory to live up to expectations and that number 94 jersey it is this season! I really believe Dan Quinn gets what Nolan / McCarthy didn't ! Randy Gregory will be fully unleashed ! Quinn will get the best out of him by putting him in the best spots possible to take advantage of his unique, untapped or i should I say unfulfilled talent. Randy i believe has a huge chip on his shoulder after being misused or should i say not used enough last season, he seems to be in a great place now with regards to past issues and with a full camp it is hard not to be excited. The Stars for Gregory seem to be aligning perfectly.

Gregory should free up Lawrence from all the double teams he has seen over 2019 and 2020, If Gregory brings his A Game, Lawrence will see double digit sacks again this year for the first time since 2018 season in which he posted 10.5. In that same year Gregory had 6 sacks, so i am calling it now Lawrence is going for 12 sacks and Gregory will finish with 10 sacks. With our schedule and our high powered offense, teams potentially are gonna have to throw and be a little more predictable thus allowing these 2 to feast on QB's!

IMO Gregory & Micah are the 2 single most important keys to this years defense, BUT Gregory in particular can impact our defense on so many levels. Not taking anything away from Micah:

1- Double team freedom so Lawrence can have more opportunities
2- Improved Run Defense
3- Opposing Qb's Should have less time which aids the secondary
4- Gregory/ Lawrence Tag Team should allow our Linebackers to fly around a little less untouched to make plays here is where Micah and company will shine !
5- Turnovers will be in our favor this year - More FF In particular

I am so happy for Gregory on a personal level since he seems to have things going correctly in his life. Not to mention professionally he is about to show that he was that missing ingredient which we needed! All that potential is about to be unleashed ! Let's go 94 it's your time to shine ! :flagwave:

while ill agree with most of that but its two way street, Dlaw will get doubled first and RG needs to make teams pay for that..as much as Dlaw is overlooked in many haterfans eyes, hes actually tops in many analytics tracking for DEs and teams do gp to stop him regardless of what this fan base thinks..

RG will have to change the way teams double Dlaw before it gets switched..

Yes i agree early on Gregory needs to set the tone this season and announce his presence with authority !

I think Gregory having a big year will go a long way in determining the outcome of this season. Having said that I blame Nolan for a lot of issues on defense but in terms of Gregory last season, he was not even on the team the 1st 6 games of the season after missing over a year and they limited the snap because of that. This year Gregory has had a full off season with the team and camp. I expect him to see a big portion of the defensive snaps this season

I'd be shocked if both had double digit sack numbers. I don't think either will hit 10 sacks, but I do think both will have good years.

I like RG's story and am rooting for him. But, the time for hoping is over. He needs to show something and not just look the part.

It would be just the Cowboy's luck that he would finally get his act together, just in time to become a F/A, and Uncle Jed lets him walk

I think that Gregory is the best defensive lineman on the roster. He was screwed last year by Nolan, who was in love with his memory of Aldon Smith from 2013 and not 2020.

I was watching the highlights from the last Bucs/Boys game - a game I went to - which clinched the NFC East for Dallas. The turning point of the game? Jaylon Smith returning a fumble for a TD. And who caused that fumble? That’s right, Randy Gregory.

This team needs more playmakers and Gregory is a playmaker.

Doesn't matter who gets doubled teamed, Randy or DLaw. One will be able to get to the QB, as that also frees up a DT on one side. As the offense will need to keep an extra guy in for protection depending the play.
This means better coverage from the LB's and DB's. Therefore hopefully more picks, or errant throws, or just incompletions. Of course sacks also.

However, they must get some sacks first to establish the need for being double teamed. I don't think it starts out that way from snap one.
I can see them each going one on one until they prove they can produce a pass rush.

I'm totally thrilled for Randy and the possibilities for an exceptional game vs. Tampa Bay!
He's 100% healthy and surely in prime condition to have one! Give 'em holy hell, Randy!!

If the stars are aligned properly, there should be a fighters chance for Lawrence to do the same!

I feel sorry for whoever lines up against Tristan Wirfs.

I am setting the Gregory sack total at 8.5. I am taking the over.

This guy is set to explode this year.

I hope he smokes em’ in a big way!!! Light em’ up Randy!!

I'm with you on this one. Everyone has pretty much chalked it up that Gregory has a big season but if I'm an opposing offense I'm starting out taking my chances that Gregory won't beat me and then keep it up until he proves he can. If Gregory turns out to not be effective, then what? We need someone to emerge with pressure inside or I think we're in trouble. I don't think it's coincidence they're experimenting with rushing Parsons because I think we're going to need all the help we can get.

We have needed him the last 5 years to be honest.

I agree Gregory will be one of the keys to defensive improvement this year, along side fixing db misques, and more consistency among the front 7.

I lean “over”’as well but a lot actually depends on DLaw. If he can’t command enough attention, Gregory will be doubled and won’t have a big statistical year.
