Did anyone else expect a breakout?
I expected him to be solid but not spectacular. Not sure how solid he's been. So overall I'm disappointed. Especially since there hasn't been any word of him being injured or hurt.

One of our first 3 picks needs in April to be a DT.

What happened is you were wrong about him. To think he was about to emerge as one of the better DTs in the league is just clueless homerism. He's a JAG. He couldn't be more of a JAG if he was traded to Jacksonville.

You said the same thing about Armstrong.

People are wrong.

We know we could be wrong when evaluating and anyone who does player assessments ends up being wrong sometimes.

And that sucks. But it's better than hiding behind criticising an owner or QB or whatever so it doesn't put you out on a limb too much to be considered wrong, which is what a few here are afraid of.

What happened to that guy this season?

I felt like he was going to have a breakout and become one of the better DTs in the league but the guy has been super quiet all season..

Did anyone else expect a breakout?
I did. He has been terrible. I don’t see a thing he does that stands out. Shocking. He was known as a high effort high motor guy. That is not the case in the NFL. They need to address DT early in the draft.

Stop Taking Big XII DTs in the draft
There is some garbage D played in that conference. IMO the Big 10 is the best spot to find DL. They play old school smash mouth football in some spots there. I would always take a Georgia or Alabama DT too. Those guys are freaks.

Gallimore is the most disappointing player to me for this season, especially of players that were expected to be starters.

He has only started 1 game this season.

I don't think he is any better than Hill; although maybe not worse either.

They're both uber quick in a straight line but...
- Hill struggles with balance.
- Gallimore struggles with lateral agility.
- Hill stronger.
- Gallimore has better awareness.

Yes I thought they stole this guy in the draft. Every year I kept expecting the breakout but now I’m ready to admit that I was just wrong.

I absolutely believe that Hill was better than Gallimore, but that just shows how bad our DTs are in general. Hill is a backup. This is a position that has needed attention for years in Dallas and all Jerry has done is throw on cast off after another at the position. It is just so obvious how important it is to have 1 or 2 powerful big bodies in the middle except to Jerry.

I think they cut Hill because he is a free agent at the end of the season and they had no plans to sign him anyway. But it is a shame they messed up waiving Ridgeway, who I think will eventually be the exact kind of DTs they need. Not flashing, but he will eat up blockers.

I don't think the results prove Hill is better, but some of his analytical measures demonstrated shorter area quickness vs Gallimore. However, things never clicked for Hill, maybe it was just effort and the work he put in. Marinelli saw potential but was a bad judge of motor.

Look at it like this. At least he is fresh, a big body, and has game experience. He is still learning his craft. He was a wrestler before he played ball in college. He is green still. He flashes at times.

He dabbled in wrestling in high school but didn't like it and quit. He liked basketball more than wrestling, and those sports generally have the same season in high school. You are mixing him up with Osa, who was a stud wrestler. One of the best in the nation during high school.

Most of your best DTS are drafted in the first round, occasionally the 2nd. Not the 3rd or later. Simmons, Jones, Cox, Donald, Heyward.....the list goes on and on. He is what you get when you don't make the position a priority.

Same. It’s not a foolproof approach, but I’d bet you’re more likely to get a reliable starter that way.

Defensive player taken from the big 12 is still a bust? Call me shocked but what would you expect in a defense optional conference...

You're talking about Odigizusa not Gallimore.

Although the scouting reports weren't clear, I think he may lack the lateral agility to succeed. Must be able to move side to side to make plays.

Unfortunately you are right. Odighizuwa is solid, but I dont even think he is as good as Maleik Collins who was a Marinelli guy

Maliek Collins low-key just finished up his 7th year as an NFL starter. He's never been a difference maker at DT, but you don't start for 7 years by sucking. There's too much roster churn for that.
