Sometimes popular bands get a bad rap from musicites for no good reason.
That lands on the Eagles sometimes. If they were too popular it wasnt as cool To like them as much in some crowds. Kind of a reverse superficiality.

The Eagles were a VERY talented band in all phases

That's like the bands that "sell out". As long as they're obscure and starving artists, they're celebrated as geniuses and mavericks but have one hit and get mainstreamed and they're a bunch of sell out traitors and just in it for the money.

Some are like that, get on them first but if they got mainstream, dump them like jock itch. U2, REM and Rush suffer a little from that too. And the latest are The Black Keys, total sell outs because they finally found some success after 15 years

I can remember when ZZ Top decided to add electronics, you would have thought the asteroid was on the way. Good grief, these are artists that can and often will push some boundaries. I love that l'il ole band from Tejas and just accepted that as the new ZZ Top.
