New 3-4's make our life harder

Kansas City, Green Bay and Denver are all changing to the 3-4 this year, add that to the teams already running the 3-4 and this year could be a big problem for our defense. We run the risk of losing 3 DL (Johnson/Canty/Bowen) and 3 LB's (Thomas/Burnett/Rogers) plus we all know Barbie can't play so we go into the off season needing as many as 7 front seven guys. Most of the 3-4 teams have two picks before we reach our first and with a weak draft (most experts say this) and not a whole lot of money in FA this year, we could very well be really thin on defense this year.

Hopefully Big Jerrah has a plan since it looks like our window for winning is closing faster than what it looked like two years ago.

Most of them guys you mentioned i could care less if they leave.

I am worried about Burnett and Canty leaving. But they can be replaced.

We have some age but we also have a lot of younger players on this team who are contributing now and should only see increased roles on this team. Our secondary while we may have Henry and Newman we also have Jenkins and Scandrick who are coming along very well. We have a young TE in Bennett , 2 young and very good RB's in Felix and Choice and some of the vets like Ware are still in the early stages of their career.

Whether or not you agree with the specifics the OP mentioned, it is true that one of the advantages historically of the 3-4 is that there was less competition for players who would excel in the system. With more 3-4 teams, it is only logical that demand for those players increases, decreasing the ability of the Cowboys to get them.

But it is still easier to get those undersized DE who are natural pass rushers to come play in the 3-4

Yeah at this point you are probably right that there are enough natural 3-4 players out there. But you are still competing with those three new teams for the best players whether through FA or the draft.
