So I'll give my review of the episode since I just watched it. You can stop reading now if you don't want any spoilers:
First of all, this show is a complete treat. These are some of the greatest actors on the planet putting up an Oscar-worthy performance every week. Very rare to get from a TV show. Like in every season, Jessica Lange is the star, and I think she'll have even more of a prominent role in this season. The Russian accent is taking time to get used to, but she's great. I liked her the best as the Boston nun in Season 2. The final scene was interesting when she took her legs off. I have a feeling nobody knows about her deformity. I think they all view her as that "normal" savior who came in and gave them all hope. I have a feeling she relates to them because of her deformity but tries to maintain this image that she isn't one of them. We'll see.
I love Kathy Bates' Philly accent. She's such a great actress. I'm glad she joined the show last season. I see Angela Basset will be on the show. I'm looking forward to seeing what role she'll be playing. I'm interested to see what role Frances Conroy will play. Her and her son were the only people who came to the premiere show, and then they attempted to buy the headline act. I have a feeling she's running some rival freak show and later episodes will play into this story line.
I like John Carroll Lynch as the serial killer clown. I'm not really sure what he's doing in this show so far. He walked in on all the freaks chopping up that detective. It seemed like he was impressed. But we'll see. I'm not sure if he'll end up joining the freaks or play a villain role or what. But his whole look and demeanor is awesome. I love that twisted smile (and his name is Twisty the Clown).
It's great to see Evan Peters playing a big role again. He's been one of my favorite in this entire series and I was disappointed to see him reduced to a mute zombie in the last season. I was also impressed with what they did with Sarah Paulson as the two headed sisters. I liked how they would zone in on one of them and get their perspective and thoughts. She's an impressive actress. I've never seen someone play two roles at once with completely different personalities (the naive sister and the stubborn one).
Overall, I completely loved the premiere of this season. I've watched the show from the start. I wasn't completely sold on Season 1. A lot of people got into the show during Season 2 and went back to Season 1 and liked that even more. That wasn't the case with me. I heard about the show and was looking forward to Season 1. It had its ups and downs and I wasn't sure if I'd continue watching the series. I decided to give the premiere of Season 2 a chance to see if I'd give up on the show, and I loved it so much that I've been hooked ever since. Season 3 I felt was rocky and I wasn't into the premiere, but then I started to enjoy it. But this season seems great. I have a feeling this one will be my favorite.
