I would love to see Todd Bowles fill that spot if the Jets let him go. I don't think that will happen but if it does, Jerry would be wise to get a hold of him ASAP..

Is he 3-4? I feel like they are maybe I’m wrong. We need to stay 4-3 though Irving is like the only guy built for 3-4 that we have

Actually, it depends on what type of 3-4 he runs. If he runs it like Wade Phillips does, then Dallas actually may have the personnel to fit that. Phillips runs a 1-Gap Defense, just like Marinelli does. Only difference is the amount of down lineman. I think most folks see 3-4 and think Parcells/Belicheat's 2-Gap, DL read and react system.

Anyway, Dallas has most of the players to switch - kind of the Seattle way of running the 4-3 (super light RDE/LDE/LEO, 3T, 1T, 5T-type DE). If Bowles were here, it could look like this:

RDE - Irving, Taco, Jones
1T/NT - FA/Draft Pick, Collins (passing downs)
LDE - Crawford (if still here), Taco, Jones

OLB - DLaw
ILB - Lee, Wilson
ILB - Smith, Hitchens (?)
OLB - FA/Draft

Not sure.

I'm ready for drastic measures to be taken. We need an elite defense again. One that we can rely on to make a stop with the game on the line.

And a few turnovers wouldn't hurt. We don't get any. Far and few between. We are always towards the bottom of the league in that category.

Byron Jones to LDE!?!? Well he clearly cant play FS and he has such a great broad jump, SPARQ, and brings so much versatility...why not I suppose.
Bold move Cotton, lets see if it pays off.

DATONE Jones. Is that better?

What are you saying?

You do not like consistences?

It's a process.

No more 3-4 / 4-3 scheme changes. There are as many top notch 4-3 coordinators as 3-4 coordinators.

A 3-4 defense goes to a 4-man line in obvious passing situations anyway.

I used to think switching back to 3-4 would be a waste of time but I just don’t care anymore the defense is bad either way
Yep we have sucked as both a 3-4 and 4-3 defense. Last time we had a defense was during the early 90's...Now that is amazing.

Oh, I agree. That's EXACTLY why I like how ATL, OAK, JAX run their 4-3. They have the personnel to morph into either at any time.
