I just got the NYC amber alert. Did you just leave the house?
I'll take my chances...
Where there's smoke, there's fire.
$100 million total, $45 mil guaranteed? I'm assuming that's what they mean.
I don't think they were bad deals as much as the players didn't even do as well as the had in the past, let alone got better.
The two I didn't like were the RW11 deal and trade and MBIII.
The only players to fully live up to their deals were DWare, Witten and Romo. Lately OScan, TSmith and maybe Church.
I can't even imagine a $50 million guaranteed signing bonus. I think I read where Rob Gronkowski hasn't even touched his signing bonus. Probably has it locked up in an investment account somewhere drawing interest. He only uses his salary money and endorsements. That's how you stay rich and not having to work another day in your life.
Please, Dez, If you get paid that much, invest it wisely and let it work for you and tell financially-clingy relatives and leeches to get lost.
I hate to hear that at the end of their careers or shortly after their careers end, these high-priced athletes are near bankruptcy.
I haven't made any yet ...Hows it going Sam
Does it say 50 Million Signing Bonus? I only read 45 Million Guaranteed.
Gronk doesn't even touch his football salary. He lives strictly off his endorsement money and invests everything else. He also talks about how he doesn't take drugs, doesnt drink and drive and doesn't own a fancy car. He just parties and is loving life in his mid-20's and will never have to worry about money for the rest of his life.
Man, am I envious.
BTW, Carson Palmer is another guy who hadn't touched his signing bonuses either. He was at $65M, and that was before the extension he signed with the Cards last year.
Stephen Jones has been a part of negotiating contracts and managing the cap since at least 1994. He has been party to many bad contracts that the Cowboys have entered into - Deion Sanders' last extension, Michael Irvin's last extension, Troy Aikman's restructure after restructure, Marco Rivera, the Jay Ratliff extension, the Miles Austin contract, Brandon Carr. If Brandon Carr's contract is the lesson that changes everything, then the student required a lot of teaching.
Not sure if this is allowable or not as it is a rumor. If not, please remove.

Good news came last night from Shan Shariff of 1053 radio:
Starting to hear multiple whispers about imminent long-term deal for Dez. The numbers 100 and 45 tossed around but still working to confirm.

The other guys on Shariff's radio station said they checked all of their sources and can't find anything to validate what he said.
