Actually Google cut its teeth on being very simple and to the point.

Did it always have the advanced search?

Yes, but it didn't always have the new filters that it has now. I especially like how on image searches, you can search by colors in the images. (search for images that have lots of X color)

Google must be getting their information from a higher authority now because our bad economy has caught up to them.
