I saw the pilot. The problem is that Kitt has no limitations now. The car has this armor in which it reconstruct itself due to millions of nanobots that can repair the exterior damage to the car, and what's convenient is you can turn it off with a simple switch. The car got blindsided and it didn't have a scratch. It was a ridiculous concept.
The old Knight Rider was cool because computers was still in its relative infancy so it was neat to see a car talk back then. That concept is no longer novel considering all the sci-fi movies and television shows that have been created since then. That show's success was due as much to its time period as its concept. Also consider there are many cars with voice command features to turn on your CD player or call someone today, again, that concept was totally foreign back in the early 80's.
If they want to make Knight Rider cool then Kitt needs some competition..perhaps a renegade car the bad guys own with some abilities. It can't just be about a cheesy dude in a talking car that solve crimes in a neatly ending NBC family like way...sorry...it won't work now.
