Several months ago, I ran across a video "The Man in the Hat" by NFL Films and was shocked at how little I knew about the Coach of the Cowboys. I was raised on the Dallas Cowboys the way a child is reared on peas and carrots. Cowboys football on Sunday was sacrosanct, a second church you went to led by Landry and the venerable Cowboys. After watching the film, I began purchasing everything on Landry and this is how I stumbled across your forum. I must admit up front, and a bit pessimistic about being deferential to modernity, that after Coach Landry was fired, I never watched the Cowboys again. The last of the suit-and-coat-tie-wearing coaches was gone, and with it, the purity of the game. (As Dad remarked to me years later, the loss of Staubach was bad enough, the loss of Landry, the end of true, in-the-trenches football). However, I can't wait to join the discussion (and learn) in the history section.

Regards,
Mick
