Starring John Cusack as *The Butcher* and Nicolas Cage as the lead Alaska State Trooper investigating the murders.

"The Frozen Ground"

The film tells the tale of Robert Hansen, the so-called "Butcher Baker" of Anchorage. Hansen is believed to have killed up to 21 women in the 1970s and '80s and is now serving life at the Spring Creek prison in Seward, AK.

I read the book. These killings were happening when we first moved here to Anchorage. It had the city freaking out for a very long time.

Hansen would capture call girls and drug them and fly them out to the bush in his little plane. He would then hunt them, kill them, cut them up and bury them.

Creepiest serial killer in Alaska's history.

Yes, he owned and operated a big bakery here in town the whole time, thus the name. No, I never ate there. :p:

it reminded me of a Tales from the Crypt episode I saw when I was like 7, some guy owned a diner that served the best steak and eggs in town...turns out its because he kills humans and serves them as steak.

Creepy. How many years did this go on before they caught him?

He was killing women from 1980-1983.

So sad.....and I like Cusack more often than not.

...but Cage makes this unwatchable IMO. Maybe I'll read the book, as it sounds very interesting.

Glad your still with us. Did you eat at the serial killers bakery? :D

lol, two actors I don't enjoy. Maybe it's a good film though.

never. i didn't even know that the place existed. i was just a kid when i lived there.

Nick Cage is in it. He fell off years ago. He only acts in horrible movies now, so while the pretense of this movie seems really cool, I have no hope for it.

Lmao...Cage reached his peak in Raising Arizona. He's been a detriment to every movie he's been in since.

He was in a movie where he played a psychopathic New Orleans cop I believe, too lazy to look up the name now, but it was a good movie. Mostly because he got to play himself, a psychopath.

The Bad Lieutenant. That was a decent flick. It's pretty much exactly how I picture him in real life.

Matchstick Men, Weather Man, and The Family Man were good. Con Air, The Rock, Leaving Las Vegas... these weren't bad movies either. He has missed on a bunch, but he has had some good ones as well.

my husband is a big nicholas cage fan & enjoys a lot of his films. his current favorite is the sorcerer's apprentice.

I heard Nick always has issues with money, so he'll take whatever he can.

I adore John Cusack, but really dislike Cage, but it's about serial killers, and I love watching psychological thrillers (Identity anyone? One of my favorite movies).

I thought Nick Cage was good in "Matchstick Men", "The Weatherman", and "Kick-***". Though, those aren't all super recent. He's been in more bad ones lately it seems like.

Nick Cage was once awesome. He was in lots of good movies. Then something happened.. I don't know but he started making movies like Wicker Man. Just awful awful movies that are best forgotten.
