Some of you (nicely) jumped all over me last week when I questioned why it taking Parcells so long to name new OC-- particularly since Parcells supposedly had mentioned the two Todds as OC/DC successors. Frankly I was hoping he'd bring an outsider in & hope gained strength when Parcells was quoted saying he'd wait until this week to see how things played themselves out.

Don't know if target is Jets' Heimlimmier (sp?) or Panthers Hennings. Heim may be trying get out of his Jets' contract. Hennings just finished 4th year with Panthers; I've checked out NFL & Panther websites but no mention of length of contract but only that he signed in Feb 02.

If Hennings contract runs out in Feb, I think Parcells wants bring in Hennings. I got no problem with that at all cause Hennings career resume sure looks good, particularly the QBs he's helped develop, etc. Poor offensive Panther play yesterday doesn't change opinion at all.

Heimerdinger wants out of NY so he can go to the Broncos to replace Kubiak.

Panthers fans have been calling for Hennings head for years. He probably would fit in well with Dallas because he is fairly conservative. One of the big knocks on him is that he doesnt adjust his gameplan well.

With Kubiak taking the Houston job, Heimerdinger is going to Denver. BP will have to look somewhere else.

Tony Sparano and it galls me to say it.

If Parcells was keeping it in house he'd have done it by now.

Even he knows he can't give OC to anyone left on his staff. Totally not qualified lot to call plays/ run an offense in NFL.

Which is why he will call the plays himself.

Totally disagree on him naming the OC already if he was promoting from within. There's no evidence to suggest we're looking at anyone.

It will be Heimilindingder

why? he wants to go back to Denver and you know, work with someone he actually knows in Shanny.

The target remains Palmer. It isn't about BP wanting Palmer or not -- he does. It is about Palmer seeing if other opportunties are better for him - as he's already been on a BP staff, it won't do much for his resume -- and make no mistake - Palmer is going to want to position himself for another shot at a HC job somewhere.

Now if Hennings is available -- and just having his contract expire doesn't mean he is looking as Carolina would be foolish not to want to keep him -- he'd be my choice. But I don't think he's moving or that he wants to work with BP.

FWIW, now that Al Saunders has disgusted me by joining the Commanders, my #1 hope for our OC is Mike Sherman.

It won't happen, but that's my hope.

Good investigation Nors!! If infact Hennings contract does end in Feb then I completley agree that Dan Henning will be our next O/C....

I have to believe that if Tony Sporano was going to be our next O/C then Parcells would have made the move by now. IT was always a question of who is he waiting for to me and I was/AM hoping that Henning is the guy he is going to bring in!!

Bring in Dan Henning Parcells!!

FWIW, Peter King in his MMQB today had this little note below about the Cowboys in his top 15 team ranking list:

13. Dallas (9-7). Speaking of real estate, could Chris Palmer be condo-shopping in Las Colinas sometime soon? I think so.

I guess most people are expecting Parcells to hire Palmer so we'll have to wait and see if they turn out to be correct.
