New Offensive Coordinator?

In my opinion, Tony Romo has taken over the OC role in Dallas. That's why Jerry is paying him the big money with this whole "Peyton-like" stuff. It doesn't matter who's going to be calling the plays on the sideline, because Romo is going to be calling them on the field.

I personally believe he's partially right. When the team went no huddle last season,it was fairly obvious that Romo took over and did fairly well. Garrett hasn't really taken this offense to the next level. His game plans are very vanilla and predictable. I think Jerry notices this and has decided to live and die by Romo's Farve like play style. Is he going to game plan?. Probably not, but I think his input is going to be heard a lot more this season. It's Romo's team now. Much like Mannings and Brees teams.

Yeah, and he is already being considered for "co-GM". Just see last draft.

I don't think the OP is that far off base here. Now I don't think Romo is going to be named the OC, but I do think he is going to be far more involved in the game planning and with calling some plays on the field during some no huddle type stuff.

Jerry already said that on Tuesdays (the player's day off), that Romo would be coming in and working with the coaches. So Romo will have a lot of influence over the game plan and play calling, even if he is not officially given any title.

We are all hoping that Romo is more involved in the coordinating.

Garrett's way just doesn't work. You have to adjust to your players and you have to adjust in game if something isn't working.

He won't be the OC obviously, but you are probably right about him having a lot of input around customizing this offense with a lot of input from him. Based on Jerry saying he got the thumbs up from Tony on the WR and TE.

This is certainly going to be interesting with this expanded "Peyton Manning" role for Romo. One thing will be interesting to see if he can make the right reads to call the right plays/formations and the other is to see if the rest of the offense and Dez can pick it up as well. Lot's of discipline for the QB and receivers in that type of offense.

romo will be more involved in the game plan and he may call some plays. but for the most part just like with manning the plays will be called from the sideline. thats why they have mic's in their helment. no huddle does not mean romo will be calling all the plays or even the majority of the plays

Something that no one is talking about on offense is running the ball. If we can have a decent running game that will equate to more wins..Period.

Closer to correct than wrong. The interviews and comments from the GM during and immediately following the draft implied Romo would be more involved. All the calls last year from media and fans about the team moving the ball more when Romo is in hurry up with more of the reigns may have reached the GMs ears. I wouldn't put it past JJ to react to us and our full wallets just waiting to be drained.

Well I certainly hope so. It's about time we give Romo the reigns, the offense runs so efficiently when he's calling what he sees. Also explains the draft being centered around giving him weapons, which is still kind of dumb because we didn't have to rebuild the offense to give it to him.
