New Orleans needs a RB

You guys are thinking of this in the following forms:

a.) one or two players
b.) starter and no-starter

Not taking into account the team "chemistry" factor. Dont mess with it.
Its not about one guy... its about how one guy is part of something bigger that gets results and wins.

So do we not bring back Glenn because the chemistry? if we lose any player on offense are we through for the season? I don't think so and while I doubt that this trade will take place I do think the Cowboys could survive it.

Besides, if Payton called Jerra and said he would give him a 1st rounder for JJ, I would hope that Jerra would tell him, "Shove it, fool! You embarass our team with an onside kick when the game is out of hand? Suffer now, sucker!"

"click"

:laugh2:

They already have a better version of JJ; hes tough, hes fast, and he can catch and run.

His name is Reggie Bush.

They don't need JJ, they need a back that can take the ball inside, and that is neither JJ's or Bushs' fortay.

That's a terrible idea, CC. The one time you actually decide to insert an opinion, it's way off the mark.

I'm not a big fan of JJ, but you have to admit our 2 RB tandem has been doing well. Why change it during the middle of the season just to find out The Barbarian can't handle the full load by himself? And god forbid MB3 gets hurt, I don't exactly feel warm and snuggly with TT as our starting back.

The team is built to win NOW! We are not rebuilding so who cares about a 2nd round pick? It is a long season and RBs drop like flies. It is very likely that JJ will be a major contributor for this team, injury to MBIII or not.

What do you think if we shipp JJ to Payton for a 2nd rd pick?

Helps both teams since we are going to loose JJ anyhow

Duece is hurt and out for the year.

It all adds up.

BARBER THE STARTER!

we've got a good thing going on - why break it up?

I can see CC's logic. Let's just say that by the trade deadline, Barber clearly takes the RB position. He's the lead dog in all packages, and while JJ still gets a few touches, it's obvious the team is going with Barber. I could see the team trading. They wouldn't get a 2nd for him. At most, maybe a 4th.

Just curious, can the team still place one of the transition tags on him, even though he'll be an UFA. So, at least they'll get something for him?

I can, too. I'm actually surprised we didn't do this more when Parcells was here -- trade guys we know don't have a future here for some kind of draft pick.

Problem is, this year we have Super Bowl aspirations and nothing really behind Julius. So I wouldn't want to mess with things in this case.

But the idea isn't that crazy.

I agree. The biggest stumbling block to the idea is the lack of depth after you let him go.

I admit, I get a little nervous at the idea of going w/Tyson and Barber-only.

Uh, no. Why jack with this offense right now?

That's why it's a silly idea...!

This team is working right now. Everyone in the locker room seems to have each other's back, the chemistry is there...Jones does not have a problem with Barber and vice a versa...! Why disrupt all that with some silly trade to help the Saints?

I think the team is not even in the "gelling stage" right now, and people think it's a good idea to start trading away players?

Ban CC for even posting a thread like this!! :D

Glenn? That is clearly not the same thing.
You are straying from my point.

"could" as in maybe yes, maybe no?

You're willing to take a team that's 3-0 and looking super and trade away a key part of the offense for a 2nd round pick???????????????????????

NO thanks. There will probably be some rough spots later in the season for the offense, but the way things are looking right now, I'd be happy to let him walk for nothing at the end of the season....no way in heck do I mess around with the current roster of starters/contributors.

Looks like by the trading deadline NO will be 0-7...lol. For a RB that will be a FA next year, what would you give for that knowing your season is shot and Duece will be back next year ?
