Most phone geeks have heard bendgate

However there seems to be a problem that more people are having and without doing anything to cause it ( like how some were purposely bending the phone).

I had not heard of this new problem until today.

My wife got her 6 plus in today. She set it up but asked me hook it up to her iTunes to get her music and ring tones.

So I did and did the latest ios update.

Went in and set her ring tone and text notification sound.

Texted her phone multiple times.... No notification sound... Just vibration.

Same thing with calling the phone... Just vibrations

Went into all the different settings I could think of... Still. Doing. Same.

Went back in and restored phone to factory settings and tried using a ring tone that came with software. No go.

Now when I go in to choose the tones they play out loud. If I go to play a song in the music player it works.
So I know the device has sound.

Checked do not disturb setting and it is not on and again other software settings.

So I check the mute switch on the side. It seems it barely moves one way to the other. It does move and you can feel it but it in no way snaps from on to off like previous iphones.

Also when turning it to mute/vibrate only mode, it does not vibrate once to let you know you in mute like previous versions.

So I do a Google search. Seems like a decent size number of people are having the same problem out of the box. Read complaints from many different forums and when an OP asks about it, many others chime in with the same problem. I also read the same types of threads on Apple fan forum and Apple Tech forums.

So if you get one and you have the same problem.. You are not alone.

Wife said she will call AT&T about what to do as that is who ordered from. Hope she does not have to take it to an apple store as I have no clue of the nearest one to my location.

Had similar issues with iphone 5 when it first came out.

Good luck tour you and wife calling AT&T. More times than not the caller knows more than them. Sometimes they will walk you through procedures that you can find online.

Frustrating.

I have heard many horror stories with AT&T and I believe the majority are true.

However we have been pretty lucky with customer service when we have called them. To be fair I only had to call once. She called today. They did what I figured they would do. They ask you to install a program that is basically a remote desktop type program so they can go in and make sure you have all the settings right on the phone. After they did that they told the wife to mail it back to them for a new on or she could have the money reimbursed. I would imagine they have been getting many of the same calls so they did not fight it at all.

Wife says she thinks she will just have the money back and get one at Wally world or a local AT&T store so she can test the mute button before she goes home lol.

i've had horror stories with them all. i've come to take that as part of the package and have realized jumping ship every time a cable/wireless co pissed me off was counter productive cause the next one would too, just differently.

I loved my internet and cable company for the most part the last however many years we have had this company.

However recently they dumped a bunch of Viacom channels (mtv, vh1, spike and a load of others).

I guess the viacom bundle wanted more money from suddenlink. Suddenlink did not want to pay more. Eventually Viacom gave in and agreed to the price the Suddenlink wanted and agreed to....Suddenlink still dropped them.

Now for the most part I don't care about that. Cause it would be more money on my cable bill. But I did not like the idea that the other group agreed with the price so Sudden link would not be losing any money nor passing that extra charge on to the customer. Most of the channels I did not watch much anyway except for Spike as I think I watched inkmaster on it.

The problem is that they dumped a butt load of these channels and put some weak lower tier never heard of the majority of the channels in their place with the exception of one program I did hear of but I think it was only on the internet. Won't say the channel as it is a political channel and we have rules lol.

Now since they got rid of well known channels for these channels that the majority never heard of, they started pushing these commercials trying to act like peopl were asking for these specific channels. It kind of back fired on their own web pages where they were swamped with negative feedback on these low end channels.

The other thing that many brought up was...if you are going to replace low end channels that were without a doubt cheaper to add than the well known channels...how about dropping the cable bill. If your excuse to not renew the other channels were to not pass on a higher bill to the consumer...how about passing on the savings to the consumers.

But of course that will not happen.

I never had a problem with my 4 and the wife never had a problem with her 5.

However they would have to make some changes before I would go back to iPhone. I like the option of expandable storage I can buy for 1/4 to 1/2 the price, I like the option to easily swap out batteries if needed and I like the number of customizations I can do on Android.

I remember when I had the iPhone and just did not get what was so great about Android. Now that I have been on Android I realize that it would take those changes and more before I would move back.

I don't get it. Apple is so far behind Samsung and LG in quality and technology why would anyone buy them?

Vanilla Android. That's all you need. Not that ganked up stuff by Samsung and definitely not that two year old technology Apple keeps putting out.

Apple has always been about doing it better. A better user friendly menu navigating phone, better connectivity through all devices.

true for the most part. There are pros to Apple though.

this is true if you run into issues that cannot be resolved or take forever to do so,

I've had stuff like that happen on various Android devices, as well.
