Last night Peterson exposed our week run-D. Ratliff has been pushed around like rag doll in the running game. In the Ryan scheme, Ratfill play over the center and take double team in every play. This scheme is very porous against the run because is designed to rush the QB. Meanwhile, Ratliff under the Wade Phillip scheme was moved and aligned over the center shoulders and used his speed shoot the gaps and disrupt the blocking scheme. He create a lot penetration and TFL. This could be reason for the Ratliff have problem to stop the running game. In addition that no have the massive body to play 3-4 NT anymore.

I think the question becomes does Dallas have somebody better to replace Ratliff at NT? Spears not being in there has alot to do with Ratliff looking so exposed...team will just throw everything at Ratliff until someone on that line proves they warrant attention.

Dude, it's Adrian Peterson. He exposes every team in the NFL.

Now if Roy Helu shreds us for 125 yards on the ground against the Skins, I'll be worried.

that is why I was pushing for Rogers or Franklin in free agency and it wouldh have free'd up Ratliff for his more natural end position. In this 3-4 you need a NT that can anchor and stuff the middle not a 285 lb quick guy.

Yeap! PETERSON is monster but our run-D not show any kind of improvement(week in week out). I don't bite the story about the new scheme, new adjustments, just simple we not have the appropriatte talent to run this scheme, period! If you not stop the run, your D will be under his hills.
:bang2:

SD moved Rat and the front 7 last week. I am not in panic mode, but this is concerning. Spencer also seems to get hooked easily.

Seems to me the line is playing over and under alot. With Wade the DE's were aligned more outside making offtackle and sweeps difficult to run on us.

Now we are getting gashed with cutbacks because of front alignments and flow to the ball.

Could be scheme and technique issue, so week 1 will be interesting.

So tell me, just how many dominant 285 pound NT's are there?

I doubt that will be the case in the regular season. Not only will he be aligned differently at NT, he will be moved around all over the place on the line.

Dont worry he will. There is positive to this team and negatives . Accept that. Our defense lacks talent.

I don't believe this team is big enough at NT and ILB. Just because I'm a long time fan, it does not excuse me from looking at the bigger picture. There has been a trend towards running effectively on the Cowboys recently. I hope it gets better, soon!

I don't think this defense lacks talent at all.

I think it lacks identity. These guys gave up last year. They need to have something to buy into, whether it be leadership, scheme, or a coach.

It wouldn't hurt to have a bigger body in the middle though, either.

Correct me if I'm wrong but in Ryan's scheme the players line up at a variety of places.

There were reports of Ratliff playing safety in camp....Ryan is a bit of a nutjob sometimes. :D

4th Ratliff thread today

That's because we are being run on. But many people here believe it doesn't matter about the run in the NFL so who cares.

Here is the thing about our DL, Spears is the only player we have that can stop the run, when he is out Teams OL doubles Ratliff and pushes him out of the way.

Ratliff needs to be a DE in Ryans 3-4 defense. If Brent can't become a big 3-4 run stuffing NT then he needs to go. If this DL doesn't show up this year then in the offseason we will have to make some moves.

LBs can only do as much as the DL will allow them to do. How does Ware, Spencer, James, and Lee suppose to get to the ball when they have the OL blocking them because the DL can't contain the blocks.

Spears is good but can't play the entire game, same with Ratliff who needs to be a DE. Hatcher is a back up and good only vs the pass.

my current next year free agent wants are.
NT Ahtyba Rubin(played 3-4 under Ryan last year and had 82 tackles, 2 sacks, and one INT)
3-4 DE Calais Campbell(6'8" 300 pounds; 60 tackles and 6 scaks as a 3-4 DE)
3-4 DE Kendell Langford(6'6" 295, a big run stopping 3-4 DE, with 47 tackles and 3 sacks)

Mix those three into a rotation with Spears, Brent, Ratliff, and Hatcher you may have the best damn DL in the NFL. Will it happen, no but it would be nice.

Also other FAs next offseason I like are at safety. Elam and Sensabaugh will both be free agents so it depends on how they play. But I really like Chrles Godfrey and Michael Griffen.

Then you will still need to resign Spencer and if Lee and Carter shows promise you can let James walk. Next years draft will be loaded with ILB and CB and also good interior OL. I say we god ILB and CB early and interior OL in the mid draft. I know I'm crazy because the season hasn't even started yet but I like to plan ahead.

I think the point is there's already 4 threads discussing this very same topic.

Is correct, but our -D have a lot a flaws against the run. Again, is designed to put pressure against the QB. If we not correct that ASAP, all teams will have a field day every sunday! They will run downhill against us!
