Hopefully this can fill the void left by the cancellation of The Event & V.

I'm insanely excited, don't know why this thread never took off... Show looks great.

Watching it with Dad & Brother tonight for fathers day.

I'm excited for this too. Usually these types of TV series leave a lot to be desired. Hopefully the Spielberg/Dreamworks combo changes that.

I suspect most, like me, never heard of this show two weeks ago. It wasn't until yesterday before I saw any promo commercials for this.

Fair enough, i've been pumped about it for months, didn't it advertise during the Super Bowl? or was that Terra Nova.

Well, I knew about it somehow. Don't remember how.

But, half an hour into the premiere, I'm definitely not pulled in to it...yet. We'll see. Reserving judgment, but so far, not getting into it very much at all.

I'm already frustrated with it. A 2 hour premiere and they picked up in the middle of the story, and never really showed the initial invasion? If they don't do that sometime soon, I'll be done real quick.

I will probably give it a chance for another week or two but a few things really bugged me.

I love how they are in hiding and on the run, yet they can have hundreds of people in one location with fires a blazing in the middle of the night.

Also, how are there 200 civilians to 100 soldiers? Sorry but once you start to get your planet taken over by aliens which are intend on distinguishing you, every one able to hold a gun becomes a soldier.

Those things bugged me too. Again, I'm expecting them to tell more of the back story to this thing to tell us this stuff about the hundreds of people in one location stuff. And it seems like they can just move about without much concern during the day, why is that?

But the "fighter" vs. "civilian" thing was a big annoyance. These 200 civilians, they showed a bunch of men. I'm sorry, but if my life and civilization as I know it are being threatened by an invasion, I'm not going to be sitting around watching the "fighters" (which include what look to be two teenage girls) while I'm fetching water from a river.

Very slow and drawn out. I lost interest after the first hour. I may get around to watching the 2nd hour but the action has to pick up...right?

There was one bit of dialogue that explained that... During the scene when the leader (old silver hair guy) was explaining the plan to run, dividing them into groups of 300... someone mentioned that the aliens were "picking up" groups of 400 or more. And, "what are we going to do when they start picking up groups of 300?" To which the leader said, "Then we will divide again, run, and survive." So, apparently the aliens were ignoring groups of people until they got to be a certain size. I dont think there was any explaination around how the aliens know how many people are in a group...

Yeah, the whole concept of fighter vs. civilian during an alien invasion is beyond stupid. What are the "civilians" aiming for? To reestablish their landscaping businesses or dental practices as they move around and hide from the aliens? What sense is there in having school when you're on the brink of annihilation? As you mentioned, the other unanswered questions leave the viewer unsatisfied more than intrigued.

Leaving out the initial invasion is puzzling, but I guess it could be a matter of the sfx to do it right would just be too costly. ~shrug~ They surrender the opportunity to tell what is usually the most compelling part of the story. Maybe they'll tell it in a flashback.

I may give it one more episode, but I saw nothing in the premiere that would get me hooked.

I don't know, I get the difference. I would think untrained civilians and people who are just plain stupid would be a liability to running military style missions. I'm sure if the aliens attacked there camp everyone would have to fight some how but to run missions to get food or other things you wouldn't want people who are scared out of their minds watching your back. The only thing I didn't get was the 13 year old kid as a fighter. I thought that was stupid.

As far as school and stuff I could see how you would do that for the kids sake. Try to give them some sort of hope.

Keeping kids occupied is one thing...planning birthday parties is ludicrous.

The main guy's teenage son and his girlfriend are fighting. As were some other young girls. As was the aforementioned 13 year old who freaked out over his dog, incidentally who was referred to as a "good fighter".

There was tension between the "fighters" and the "eaters" as the hot Doctor described them. In such a situation, everyone physically able to pick up a gun and shoot would do so. Able bodied men could hardly sit idly by - as some were - while little kids go in their stead to fight (except for perhaps the disabled and the extreme cowards). I'd like to think that the % of Americans who would sit on their can in such a situation would be much lower. The way the most of the people acted was that this was not a desperate situation at all...more like they were relocating because of flooding.

Are they showing back episodes?
I liked the pay channels becasue you had an archive of all of the episodes.
Going forward, i guess i can just DVR it, if it's worthy.
