For those people who will go nuts if we pick Richardson over Cooper or Warmack, For those people who will go nuts if we pick Cooper or Warmack over Richardson...

They are similarly graded players that both fill a need for this team. You may like one group or player over another (I personally like the OGs over Richardson) but there is no sense in going NUTS if the other player is taken as they are all good players that would fill a need and would more than rate at the draft position they would be taken by the cowboys.

Complaining about getting a good player, at a good draft position, that also fits a need is kind of...nuts.

This is not the same as taking Tony Dixon where we drafted him.

Now if they are sitting there at 18 and those players are available and instead of taking one of them they decide to take another player who is graded or rated at a second or lower round level (Bennie Logan, John Jenkins, Larry Warford, K.Long) than by all means you go nuts and I might be there with you.

But let's tap the breaks at going nuts at getting a similar graded player at a position of need that would be available just because it is not the guy you want.

Richardson is reported to have character issues.

Based on talent, he should get drafted before #18. If he falls to #18, then there is probably truth to the character issues in which case the Cowboy won't draft him.

They invited him to the Ranch, so I would say they might surprise you there.

One of the reasons that teams bring players in to visit is to get a feel for their character/mental-makeup. They've already watched film and have seen the players at the combine/pro-day.

You could just google it. Almost all of the reports have some reference to it.

I'll do the work and post some of them:

Juco transfer to Missouri December of 2010 but missed spring practice and part of summer camp in 2011 while dealing with the NCAA on some eligibility issues. Suspended for the Syracuse game this past fall for breaking team rules. Mental capacity and maturity level are being closely investigated by NFL scouts. Parents are Michael and Zelda Richardson.

Weaknesses: Has only had one dominant season at the FBS level (just 13 starts in 24 games) and there is some concern about how motivated he'll remain once he signs a big NFL contract. Has a tendency to stand up out of his stance and lose the leverage battle, occasionally struggling to break free until it's too late in short-yardage situations. More productive rushing the passer, recognizing the dump-off pass and pursuing from behind with passion than actually getting home for the QB sack (just three sacks in his "dominant" 2012 campaign)...

Has struggled with academics in the past, resulting in his transferring to a junior college after signing with Missouri as a highly touted prep. Was also suspended for Missouri's final home game of the 2012 season (Syracuse) for violating team rules, reportedly for academics)... Teams will want to have their medical staffs check out Richardson at the Combine, as he underwent shoulder surgery following the 2011 season.
Compares To: Tyson Alualu, DT, Jacksonville Jaguars - If NFL scouts are convinced he'll maintain it once he cashes his first paycheck, the combination of size, athleticism and the high-revving motor Richardson demonstrated this season could lead to a shockingly high grade for Mizzou star, just as it did for Alualu, the surprise No. 10 overall pick of the 2010 draft.

Another report I saw compared his personality to Deangelo Hall.

Yeah, I'm afraid that Richardson will be gone by the time we pick.

However, if he is there, I don't see Dallas letting him go. Richardson plays a position that NFL teams have no problem drafting early and he is an ideal 3-tech for Kiffin's defense. If he is sitting there and Cooper is sitting there I would wager that they'd take the DT simply because of the positional value.

Personally, I'd be happy with Cooper or Richardson, but NFL team's value DT's much more highly than they do guards.

I could be wrong, but if they're both there I think we take Richardson.

If the draft goes like this I will be a very happy man.

Richardson is my top target.

He is a perfect fit in the 4-3.

His character stuff is wayyy overblown. He isn't an academic but I have heard Warren Sapp try to form coherent sentences.

Go kill QB! So easy even a caveman can understand it.

I have a huge man crush on Warmack who is as close to Larry Allen as I've seen in a collegiate player. But you take stud Dts before stud OGs especially in a Tampa 2 defense.
