OL and safety. I'm not jumping ship and I have a ton of faith in this team (I fully believe we will make playoffs) but I'm worried that we had 4 needs between the 2 positions and have only adressed 1, Tyron. Sure, Garrett at the helm and Rob Ryan is going to help tremendously, I'm just a little upset that we havent adressed much. Will Huff, Elam, or Whitner be an improvement over Ball? Absolutely. Are any of them big hitters, interception machines, or game changers? No. I Really hope Robs scheme protects the middle of our field. As for the O-Line, I think Tyron was a great pick, but theres no way were running the ball up teams guts with Holland and Kosier. We've got alot of guys who are serviceable, and were looking at some serviceable free agents, but I see us having the same issues this year as we had last

Of course we will. Holland is this year's Alex Barron. When you take chances with guys and fail to address real problems, these are the kind of situations you find yourself in.

You cant sign a Guard it might hamper Holland's ability to step up according to Jerry.

I would really love to know if he actually believes his own BS.

Holland is not Barron. Holland played a good bit last year and was pretty good. He's not going to the pro bowl or anything but him starting is nothing to be freaking out about like so many are.

with all due respect to Holland , I dont feel confortable lining him up next to Tyron . Tyron is going to need his hand held but so is Holland IMO. i hope we bring in a nasty tough beast to man that spot.

What is Holland....about 450 pounds now? LOL

Not to mention that Holland isnt even a good fit for JG's offense. We need guys that help get Felix and Murray on the edges and who can block in space. Holland is just more of the same limitations that hurt the line last season.

Pretty good? Really? You and I must have definitions of the term "pretty good". The guy is a fringe guard who has been around for seven years and has never been able to lock down a permanent job. Not to mention he came into camp out of shape.

He's a nice backup at best, but to give him the starting job without bringing in people to compete? Makes no sense. We've got money if we were so hard after Nnamdi - bring in freaking Brian Waters and see if he outperforms Holland in camp. Why is this organization so afraid of making young players compete for a job?

Reports from camp say he's been getting downfield really well. He has some movement skills or Shanahan would have never got him in Denver.

That is good news, I hope he proves me wrong.

Shanny did dump him on us for next to nothing a year later, and he was a 16 game starter for him.

Holland doesn't need his hand held. He's an experienced starter in this league and Tyron lining up next to him won't be much different than lining up next to Bigg.

Yeah, Holland was such a good trade and resigning that when Kosier went down with an injury, the little Free reign drummer boy got the start over Holland, and now Jerry thinks he's the answer at right guard.....Please David Arkin beat that Holland Spare out in training camp for the starting job

I have to say that I disagree with you about OL. It appears the front office has and is doing what they believe they need to. Drafting Smith with a top 10 pick says something. Also, it appears they have some confidence in Costa and Young. Kosier is underrated by the likes of ESPN, but what do they know. It's disappointing to here about Holland being out of shape.... I just don't get it...

But, I completely agree with you about safety. In fact, what I really can't understand is why the front office just can't see how poor out safety play has been over the past several years. It seems their response is to plug in tier 2 or tier 3 level talent.

We were rated the 7th best offensive in the NFL last year. Pretty good considering our starting QB was out most of the year. But, we had the 23rd ranked defensive. And, what does the front office do? It appears they are focusing on offense.

OL will be fine. Offense will be fine. Still, no safety. Were the CB's victims of injury, poor safety play and poor front 7 pressure? Poor coaching? Well, we seem to be staying pat with our talent on D. So, someone must think the coaching and potential talent will move us from 23rd to some place better.

Holland has actually played and played well for us. He is just fat and gets hurt. He can play. Its like you guys don't pay attention and thing FA only lasts 3 days.

Holland started and played until he got hurt. Or are you talking about 4 years ago and ignoring everything since then.

Havn't been ignoring anything, how can the Dallas Cowboys non-experienced OL JAGs be better than the experienced Free Agent OL JAGs, even if they are just OL JAGs.

Bigg was an OK guard last year who we were paying Pro Bowl guard money.

Holland is an OK guard, too. He's going to win some battles with size and power and lose some battles because of a lack of speed.

At this point, he might actually be better at handling speed than Davis was.

If anyone is expecting him to play at a Pro Bowl level, then they will be disappointed, but he can play to a Derek Kennard level (for those who remember him).

The question with Holland is conditioning/weight, which is what got him cut in Denver, not his playing ability.

The term JAG is worthless and brings nothing to understanding a player.

JAG implies replacement level player. Their is not basis for that.

You can call Barron and Columbo JAGs but it gives you no concept of the players themselves.
