I am a big fan of Newman, but becoming a bit concerned of his continued history of nagging injuries. Believe me , the groin injury will be a problem long into the season.

Groin injuries always seem to linger with us. remember Henry?

I hope Newman gets better and is 100%.

Hey, injuries happened in the NFL and this injury could have happened to anyone. It certainly not Newman's fault nor can it be attributed to his age. Somebody got him in the groin; last time I checked do believe either the Skins or Giants had at least 1 player who has a groin injury and do believe he was younger.

Exactly. We know he's a workout fiend but seems every year there is a "nagging, lingering" injury. Not enough to make him miss games, but enough to not allow him to be 100% or close to it.

Which obviously not only impacts/limits what he can do, but also our defense by extension as well.

This is only the 2nd time he's had a significant injury. He's missed a grand total of 3 games in his career.

Like I mentioned in other threads-when we drafted Jenkins with our #28, I was surprised how most Zoners were unhappy and wanted Jerry/Wade to draft a WR instead.

Again...something potentially GREAT has come out of this.

he didnt miss games when he was getting needles in his legs at the end of every game last season, youre right.

wouldnt you rather have a healthy Tnew for a year?

I agree-Newman is one tough SOB. Even with that knee injury in Dec(coupled with that foot one), he still played very well.(He had a pick 6 go through his breadbasket in the 2nd Eagles game)

Yep, three games in five years.

And the third game he could have played, but didn't because we had it locked up.

You said it was always something with Newman.

When has it been something before last season?

Honestly-he didn't play badly at all in '04. Most of the blame went to 1) Darren not playing, 2) the scrub FS/CB#2 replacements, and 3) of course, Roy.

And he played very well last year as well.

Stop worrying, he will be fine. Look, he will not practice for three or four weeks. He wasn't going to play much in pre-season anyway.

Newman has plenty of time to recover and I will promise he will be fine come week #1.

"nagging, lingering injury"

this guy just cant win with you people, almost like Jones...his 2nd yr in the league I saw post after post after post of "he's a bust!!! see!!! should have drafted Leftiwch!!!" only to find out after the season that he played the entire season with a knee injury, for the sake of the team because we were in horrible shape at CB...last yr he had a serious injury, missed 3 games for the first time in his career and then played with said injury all yr (again, for the sake of the team) and he gets criticized again...

if he had just missed a bunch of games, everyone would say he "cant suck it up and play with pain"

this guy is a tremendous football player, he gives everything he has every week, works his arse off, is a model citizen and plays hurt...give him a break

We knew that Newman was older when we drafted him. He will have more injuries at his age than others drafted at the same time.

His practice needs to be managed in a way that prolongs his career.

All that said, his play has been superb since we drafted him. Even though odds are that his career will not be extremely long, I'm sure glad he's here.

So what? Id take an 80% Newman over most of the DB's in the league.

I'm not concerned with Newman, this is a minor injury and he will over come it. My God some of you are the biggest worry warts I have ever seen. This is football, players get nicked up this is not a big problem for the Cowboys right now and with it happening this eary in the process I don't think it will be a problem as we get into the season.
